Forward Deployed Engineer

Role Description The Forward Deployed Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in WP. Kuala Lumpur, with flexibility for partial work from home. In this role, the engineer works directly with clients to scope requirements, design technical solutions, and build production-grade systems using AI, automation, and modern software development practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing and integrating services and APIs, writing clean and testable code, configuring and deploying cloud infrastructure, and troubleshooting issues in live environments. The engineer will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and designers to iterate quickly, gather feedback, and refine features based on real-world usage. This position also involves documenting solutions, supporting go-live activities, and providing ongoing technical guidance to client stakeholders.
Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar, including experience with modern frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Django, or comparable).
• Ability to work with AI/ML and automation technologies, including integrating machine learning models, data pipelines, and workflow automation tools into production systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Comfort working directly with clients to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in debugging, performance optimization, and monitoring of distributed systems in production environments.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, APIs, security best practices, and integration patterns for web and mobile applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work setting, manage priorities independently, and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with startups or fast-paced product environments, and prior exposure to enterprise systems, is an advantage.
