About Prudentia Sciences

Prudentia Sciences is the scientific intelligence layer powering life sciences dealmaking. We bring together expert-developed scientific diligence frameworks, AI reasoning trained on drug development, and a unified evidence base to accelerate investment in breakthrough therapies. As a trusted third party operating between buyer and seller, we help build conviction through every stage of the deal, faster. We replace fragmented workflows with a single system that surfaces what matters earlier.

Backed by GV (Google Ventures), McKesson, Iaso Ventures, Virtue, and SignalFire — and built by people who have sat on every side of the table in life sciences dealmaking — we're on a mission to bring expert scientific judgment to every deal decision, at AI scale.

The Opportunity

Our clients don't buy software in the abstract. A BD team at a top-20 pharma company, a biotech evaluating its pipeline, or an investment fund running diligence on a drug asset each arrives with its own data, its own workflows, its own security review, and its own definition of a good answer. Closing the gap between what our platform does out of the box and what that client needs this quarter is engineering work, and it's this role.

We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to be Prudentia's senior technical presence inside client engagements. You'll scope problems with client stakeholders, integrate our platform with their systems and data, build the configurations, workflows, and extensions that make it indispensable, and turn what you see in the field into product and platform improvements. You'll work across engineering, data, AI/ML, and the commercial team.

Why This Role is Hard (in a Good Way)

Forward deployed work at Prudentia sits where several demanding worlds meet:

  • Sophisticated, high-stakes users: BD leaders, portfolio strategists, scientists, and investors who know the domain cold and will spot a wrong number immediately. Trust is earned one answer at a time.

  • Messy enterprise reality: client data in internal systems, data rooms, spreadsheets, and licensed databases; SSO and security reviews; IT teams with their own timelines and constraints.

  • AI that has to be right: applying LLMs and retrieval to clinical trial data, scientific literature, deal history, and multi-language sources, where hallucination isn't a quirk but a credibility risk.

  • A product still taking shape: every engagement is a chance to decide whether something should be a one-off configuration, a reusable pattern, or a core platform feature. You'll help make that call.

You'll need to be as comfortable in a client steering meeting as you are in a pull request, and able to switch between them in the same afternoon.

What You'll Own

Client Deployment & Integration

  • Lead the technical side of client onboarding and deployment, from discovery and scoping through go-live and expansion.

  • Integrate Prudentia with client systems and data: internal databases, data rooms, document repositories, licensed datasets, and identity providers, working within their security and compliance requirements.

  • Build client-specific workflows, configurations, models, and extensions on top of our AWS-based platform, written to production standards rather than as throwaway scripts.

Applied AI & Data in the Field

  • Apply our AI capabilities (LLMs, retrieval, extraction, scenario and risk modeling) to client-specific questions, and evaluate whether the outputs are accurate and defensible.

  • Partner with the data team on onboarding new client and third-party data sources, and on the provenance and quality standards that let clients trust the results.

  • Build evaluations and guardrails for client use cases so that quality is measured, not assumed.

Product Feedback Loop

  • Be the field's voice in engineering and product: bring back patterns, gaps, and requests with enough technical depth that they can be acted on.

  • Turn repeated one-off solutions into reusable components, templates, and platform features, contributing directly to the core codebase.

  • Help decide what should be productized, what should stay configurable, and what we should say no to.

Trusted Technical Advisor

  • Act as the technical point of contact for your accounts, from day-to-day users through to executive sponsors.

  • Support the commercial team in pre-sales technical discovery, pilots, and proofs of value with strategic prospects.

  • Help build the forward deployed playbook, and help shape the team as it grows.

Who You Are

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time in client-facing, forward deployed, solutions engineering, or technical consulting roles where you shipped code that clients depended on.

  • Strong full-stack or backend engineering skills: Python and SQL as a minimum, comfort with APIs and integrations, and the ability to work across a modern web stack.

  • Hands-on AWS experience: you've deployed and operated production systems on AWS and can reason about security, networking, and cost in client environments.

  • Practical experience with LLMs and AI applications: retrieval, prompting, extraction, evaluation, and the judgment to know when an AI output is good enough to put in front of a client.

  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences: you can run a working session with scientists or investors, then explain the tradeoffs to engineers.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership: you thrive when the problem isn't fully specified and the client is waiting on you to define it.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in life sciences, biopharma, healthcare, or financial services, especially with clinical trial, scientific literature, or deal data.

  • Experience with enterprise integration patterns: SSO/SAML, data room APIs, data pipelines, and security questionnaires.

  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup where you helped define a function rather than join an established one.

What We Offer

  • Impact: Your work directly enables breakthrough therapies to reach patients faster

  • Ownership: Build and lead the platform as a foundational engineering leader

  • Growth: Shape our product experience during a critical scaling phase

  • Compensation: Competitive salary and equity

  • Team: Collaborative, mission-driven colleagues passionate about transforming biopharma

Location

We are strongly prioritizing candidates based in London (UK), Dublin (Ireland), or Basel (Switzerland) to support our EU-based clients. If we find truly exceptional talent in the US, we may consider fully remote in Eastern Time Zone in the United States.
