Forward Deployed Engineer_TT

We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join a fast-growing AI company as the technical and commercial link between its AI agent platform and enterprise customers. You'll work directly with customers to understand what's really broken in their operations, then design and ship solutions on their actual systems. It's a client-facing, post-sale role where you act as both solution architect and hands-on engineer: you scope projects with senior stakeholders and also write the integrations that make them work. Business judgment matters more here than narrow technical depth; the platform can be learned, commercial instinct can't. The role suits a versatile, AI-native engineer who enjoys sitting with customers as much as writing code. You'll have a direct impact on how leading retail and CPG brands use AI agents to automate their operations.

The company is a venture-backed Series A startup building an AI operations platform for enterprise retail and CPG brands. Its AI agents automate complex end-to-end processes, helping large organisations cut manual work and unlock value hidden in their operations. The company works with major enterprise customers and is growing quickly, including expansion from Europe into the US. Forward Deployed Engineers sit between the core product and each customer's real tech stack, making sure the platform delivers measurable business results. The team is lean, entrepreneurial and AI-first, with short decision cycles and plenty of ownership.

You have:

• About 4–5+ years of experience in engineering, solutions or deployment roles
• External, commercial, customer-facing experience with named enterprise customers of a software product, including scoping work with economic buyers
• Experience at a venture-backed startup or scale-up (Seed to Series B) or a genuine hyper-growth environment
• Hands-on skills in Python or JavaScript, SQL, APIs, JSON and webhooks
• Applied AI experience: hands-on work with LLMs, agent frameworks, evals, MCP or retrieval
• The ability to translate technical work into clear business value and ROI for C-level stakeholders
• An AI-native working style: you reach for AI tools first in your daily work
• UK residence, or willingness to relocate to the UK before starting

Nice to have:

• Previous experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer or Solutions Engineer at an AI startup
• A background at Palantir, McKinsey / QuantumBlack or similar consulting and deployment firms
• Co-founder or entrepreneurial experience
• Domain knowledge in retail, e-commerce, CPG or supply chain

What to do:

• Work directly with enterprise customers to understand their processes, pain points and systems
• Scope solutions with senior and C-level stakeholders, including economic buyers
• Design and build integrations between the AI agent platform and customers' existing tech stacks (APIs, databases, webhooks, legacy systems)
• Build, configure and deploy AI agents that automate end-to-end business processes
• Set up evals and quality checks so solutions are production-ready and reliable
• Find creative workarounds when customer systems lack proper APIs or documentation
• Show and communicate the business impact of each deployment to customers
• Feed customer insights back to the product and engineering teams to shape the platform
• Learn the platform quickly and become a trusted technical advisor to customers
