Forward-Deployed Product Research Intern
Location: Singapore (Hybrid)
Allowance: SGD 2,000/month
Employment Type: Full-time Internship
Period: 2027
About & Senibina
& Senibina is a small design technology studio based in Singapore. We're building AI-powered tools that help people in architecture, the built environment, and related industries work in new ways.
Our core platform, Enjin, brings together AI and computational design to make complex design processes simpler and more accessible.
We're a small team with big things to figure out. A lot of what we build starts with conversations, observations, and questions about how people actually work.
And that's where you come in!
About the Role
We're looking for a Forward-Deployed Product Research Intern to work closely with our founder on understanding users, exploring how they work, and figuring out where our products can make a difference.
Starting January 2027, we're preparing for a new industry engagement. We'll be working with professionals who have their own established ways of doing things, and we want to understand those workflows properly before deciding what to build.
This isn't a typical UI/UX design internship where you'll spend most of your time designing screens in Figma.
Instead, you'll spend time with real users — observing how they work, asking questions, mapping out processes, and discovering problems that might not be immediately obvious.
Some days might involve interviews or workshops. Others might involve making sense of messy notes, drawing workflow diagrams, or sitting down with our founder to discuss what we've learned.
The idea is simple: understand the problem before we try to solve it.
Your work will help us make better decisions about what to build, what to improve, and where to focus our engineering efforts.
What You'll Do
• Talk to People — Conduct interviews and research sessions to understand how professionals work and what matters to them.
• Observe Real Workflows — Spend time with users, see how they use existing tools, and understand the little frustrations and workarounds that come with their day-to-day work.
• Help Run Workshops — Plan and facilitate discussions, discovery sessions, and usability studies.
• Map Things Out — Turn complicated workflows into diagrams, journey maps, and visual explanations that others can understand.
• Spot Opportunities — Look for patterns, recurring problems, and areas where we might be able to make things easier.
• Make Sense of What You Find — Bring together research notes, observations, and feedback into useful findings.
• Work With the Founder — Share what you've discovered, discuss possible solutions, and help shape what we explore or build next.
• Help Us Get Better at Research — As an early member of the team, you'll also help us figure out better ways to conduct and document research.
Who We're Looking For
We're especially interested in students studying:
• User Experience (UX) Design or Research
• Product Design or Experience Design
• Service Design or Design Research
• Human-Computer Interaction
• Other related design, research, or interdisciplinary programmes
Whether you're from a polytechnic, NAFA, LASALLE, or university, we'd love to hear from you.
We're less concerned about how many tools you know, and more interested in how you think.
You might be a good fit if you:
• Are naturally curious — You enjoy figuring out why people do things a certain way.
• Ask good questions — You're comfortable asking "why?" and aren't afraid to ask follow-up questions.
• Enjoy understanding people — You like listening, observing, and learning from people with different backgrounds.
• Can connect the dots — You enjoy spotting patterns and making sense of complicated information.
• Communicate clearly — You can explain what you've learned through writing, conversations, sketches, or diagrams.
• Take initiative — You're happy exploring unfamiliar problems and figuring things out along the way.
• Are open to learning — You don't need to have all the answers, but you're willing to find them.
Experience with user research, workshops, or usability testing would be great, but it's not a requirement.
Knowing your way around Figma, FigJam, Miro, or similar tools is a plus. You don't need to know how to code, and you don't need to be an expert in architecture or AI.
What You'll Gain
• Work on Real Problems — Get involved in actual industry engagements, rather than hypothetical design exercises.
• Learn by Doing — Conduct research with professionals and see how your findings influence a real product.
• Work Closely With the Founder — Get a firsthand look at how product, design, and engineering decisions are made in an early-stage company.
• Explore New Technologies — Learn how AI and computational design are being applied to real-world challenges.
• Room to Take Ownership — You'll have guidance and support, but also space to explore ideas and take initiative.
• Help Shape How We Work — We're still building our processes, and your perspective can help us improve them.
