MB Send is building a new generation of cross-border payments and financial infrastructure, initially connecting Europe and Africa, with a long-term strategy extending into India, Brazil and other emerging markets.

Our initial focus is on making international payments more accessible, secure and compliant, while building the infrastructure required to support individuals, businesses and financial partners across multiple markets.

MB Send is currently in its company-building and pre-launch stage, with product development, regulatory preparation, technology development and strategic partnerships being developed alongside ongoing discussions with investors.

We are now looking for a Founding CFO to join the founding executive team and take ownership of the company's financial strategy, financial infrastructure and capital planning.The Opportunity

This is not a conventional accounting or finance-management position.

The Founding CFO will help build the financial foundation of MB Send from the ground up and work directly with the Founder, investors, legal advisers, banking partners and future executive team.

You will play a central role in preparing MB Send for institutional investment, establishing financial controls, managing capital and liquidity, developing financial models and supporting the company's expansion across multiple markets.What You Will OwnFinancial Strategy & Planning

• Develop and own MB Send's long-term financial strategy.
• Build and maintain the company's financial model.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Establish financial KPIs and management reporting.
• Analyse unit economics, transaction economics and profitability by corridor and product.
• Develop financial scenarios for different growth and funding stages.
• Support strategic decisions regarding products, markets, pricing and expansion.

Fundraising & Investor Relations

• Work directly with the Founder on fundraising strategy and investor preparation.
• Prepare financial materials for investors and due diligence.
• Support valuation analysis and capital-raising decisions.
• Develop investor financial reporting.
• Manage financial aspects of the data room.
• Coordinate financial due diligence with external advisers.
• Support negotiations concerning investment structures and financing.
• Establish a professional financial reporting framework for future institutional investors.

Treasury & Liquidity

• Develop MB Send's treasury strategy.
• Establish liquidity management and cash-flow controls.
• Support banking and financial-institution relationships.
• Develop processes for managing multi-currency balances and international flows.
• Analyse FX exposure and foreign-exchange economics.
• Establish controls around settlement, partner balances and operational liquidity.
• Work with the technology and operations teams to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.

Payments & Financial Infrastructure

• Work closely with the CTO and operations leadership on the financial architecture of the platform.
• Define financial requirements for payment processing, settlement and reconciliation.
• Establish appropriate financial controls around transaction flows.
• Evaluate the economics of banking, EMI, payment and payout partners.
• Analyse partner fees, FX spreads, settlement costs and transaction margins.
• Support the development of scalable financial processes as transaction volumes grow.

Corporate Finance & Controls

• Establish internal financial policies and controls.
• Develop financial approval and expenditure frameworks.
• Establish management accounting and reporting processes.
• Oversee financial reporting and performance analysis.
• Coordinate accounting, tax and audit functions with external professional advisers where appropriate.
• Prepare the company for future audits and institutional financial requirements.
• Establish appropriate segregation of duties and financial governance.

International Expansion

Support the financial planning and structure for MB Send's expansion across:

• Portugal and the European Union
• Mozambique
• Angola and other African markets
• India
• Brazil
• Future international markets

The CFO will evaluate the financial implications of entering new markets, including operating costs, partner economics, taxation, liquidity, FX exposure and capital requirements.What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a senior finance professional who combines financial expertise, strategic thinking, fintech understanding and entrepreneurial execution.Required / Strongly Preferred

• Significant experience in finance, corporate finance, investment banking, fintech, payments, banking or financial services.
• Previous experience as CFO, Finance Director, VP Finance, Head of Finance, Corporate Finance Director or equivalent senior role.
• Strong financial modelling and financial planning capabilities.
• Strong understanding of cash flow, treasury and liquidity management.
• Experience preparing companies for fundraising and investor due diligence.
• Strong understanding of financial controls and corporate governance.
• Ability to analyse unit economics and business performance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with founders and investors.
• Ability to operate effectively in an early-stage and rapidly evolving environment.

Particularly Valuable

• Previous experience in FinTech or payments.
• Experience with cross-border payments or remittance businesses.
• Experience with banks, EMIs, payment institutions or financial infrastructure companies.
• Experience with international treasury and FX.
• Experience raising institutional capital.
• Experience working with venture capital or private equity investors.
• Experience in regulated financial services.
• Experience working across Europe, Africa, India or other emerging markets.
• Experience building finance functions within startups or scale-ups.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is not simply an accountant or financial controller.

We are looking for someone who can operate as a strategic financial partner to the Founder and help build a financially disciplined, investable and scalable company.

You should be comfortable working with incomplete information, building financial models from first principles, challenging assumptions, managing capital carefully and communicating complex financial matters to investors, executives and external partners.

You should also be comfortable working alongside legal, regulatory, technology and operations teams in a highly regulated industry.Recruitment Process
