About Chantry
Chantry—formerly Rhino—is a venture-backed startup building an insurance and finance platform for homeowners in a world of increasing climate exposure. We help homeowners understand their risk, reduce it, and access the coverage they need; as part of this mission, Chantry Insurance Services is an AI-native insurance brokerage specializing in wildfire-exposed property insurance. Chantry was founded after the LA fires in January 2025, in which tens of thousands of homeowners (including our co-founders and their families) were evacuated, underinsured, and unsure how to mitigate future risk.
Our proprietary data pipeline and quoting engine remove administrative friction: we use AI to gather aerial and street-level imagery and construction data, prepare submissions, and address servicing requests. AI helps producers focus on advising clients and closing business while reducing post-bind servicing obligations.
The Opportunity
We are hiring our Founding Insurance Producer. This position will convert a high-volume inbound pipeline of more than 1,000 homeowner leads per month, bind $1–2 million in annual written premium, and build the repeatable producer playbook that future producers will follow. The best candidates will be driven by our mission — helping homeowners who live in wildfire hazard areas get insurance they can afford. The Producer will work with leadership to develop strategy, build out the producer process, ensuring high-touch customer service.
What you'll do:
Respond quickly to inbound homeowners and move qualified opportunities from first contact to bind.
Close $1–2 million in annual written premium across catastrophe- and wildfire-exposed personal property.
Build and document a repeatable playbook for speed-to-lead, quoting, follow-up, objection handling, and close.
Use our data pipeline and quoting engine to increase throughput, then contribute practical feedback that makes the software better.
Navigate specialized placements—including admitted, E&S/non-admitted, California FAIR Plan plus wraparound/DIC, high-value homes, and surplus-lines markets.
Track the funnel closely and improve speed-to-lead, quote-to-bind conversion, and policies bound.
What You Bring:
An active California Property & Casualty producer license
4+ years of experience as a top-performing personal-lines producer, regardless of where you developed it
Experience with surplus-lines carriers or wholesale brokers
You have placed FAIR Plan + DIC packages
You have worked with high network clients
Exceptional pace and follow-through across a large volume of inbound opportunities
Proven strong closing instincts: you can create urgency, explain complex tradeoffs clearly, and earn homeowner trust
Comfort adopting new software and contributing feedback while the product evolves
A startup mindset: high ownership, direct communication, and enthusiasm for meaningful upside that come from being a founding team member
Ability to quickly learn and build expertise regarding E&S and FAIR plan + DIC, and high-value homes, because nearly all of our business is wildfire-exposed property
We would be excited if you also have:
Experience with wildfire insurance
Strong preference for expertise with specialized property products, such as E&S and FAIR plan + DIC, and high-value homes, because nearly all of our business is wildfire-exposed property
Deep experience with specialized property products
Lead experience to guide other producers in the future
Experience in a startup environment is preferred
How success is measured:
Speed-to-lead
Quote-to-bind conversion
Policies bound and overall throughput
$1–2 million in annual written premium
A documented, repeatable producer playbook
Chantry is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
