Founding Product Manager (Password Manager) 12 month FTC

TryHackMe is the fastest-growing online cyber security training platform, with a community of more than 9 million learners. We make security skills accessible, hands-on and fun, for individuals and for the businesses that train their teams with us.🥷

About the role

We're building a new product from scratch: a password and authentication manager.

Logging in is one of the most frustrating parts of everyone's digital life, which is why most people still reuse the same password everywhere. The built-in options are tied to one ecosystem, and the dedicated ones are often clunky. We think there's room for something that's genuinely simple to use, protects people before they get breached, and is built for a world of passkeys and AI agents.

We start with an unfair advantage: millions of security-conscious learners, many of whom are discovering password managers for the first time, and a company that lives and breathes security. What we need now is the person who turns that into a product people love, trust and pay for.

You'll be the founding PM, and you'll run this product the way a founder would. You'll take it from idea to launch, then grow it. You'll work directly with Ben (co-founder and CEO), Rob (Head of Engineering) and Tim (Head of Product), alongside a small dedicated team of engineers and design, with experienced security advisors helping shape the architecture.

What you'll own

  • Vision and strategy: who we build for first, why they'll switch, and how we win against both the built-in options and the established players.

  • The first version: deciding what goes into the MVP and what doesn't, across web, browser extension and mobile, and getting it into users' hands.

  • Go-to-market: positioning, launch, pricing and packaging, and a free offer strong enough to drive adoption.

  • Growth: activation, retention, and the loops that make password managers spread, like sharing with friends, family and teammates.

  • Trust: making security and transparency a visible part of the product, working with engineering and independent reviewers.

  • What comes next: the longer-term path from individual users to teams and businesses.

What you'll do

  • Get close to users from week one: interviews, concept tests and quick experiments to find out what people actually need before we build it.

  • Turn a big, ambiguous opportunity into a clear and opinionated plan: what we build, in what order, and how we'll know it's working.

  • Work with engineering to balance speed, scope and security, so we ship something people trust.

  • Define what success looks like, from first install to a vault people rely on daily to free-to-paid conversion, and have it tracked before launch so every release teaches us something.

  • Wear a lot of hats. Some weeks that means writing onboarding copy, answering early users directly, digging into competitors or planning launch with Marketing.

  • Help shape and grow the team as the product finds traction.

What you'll need

  • 4+ years of product management experience, including at least one product you took from zero to launch and then grew

  • A track record of strong product judgement: deciding what to build and, just as importantly, what not to, and backing it with evidence

  • Comfort operating like a founder: high ownership, comfortable with ambiguity, and happy to do whatever the product needs that week

  • Solid technical fluency. You can hold your own in conversations about encryption models, browser extensions, mobile apps and authentication (passkeys, OAuth, SSO) and make good trade-offs with engineers. You don't need to be a cryptographer.

  • Experience with consumer growth and monetisation, such as freemium, pricing, conversion or referral loops

  • Strong use of data: you can set up measurement, read funnels and make decisions from the results

  • Top-tier communication skills, and the ability to bring clarity to messy problems for both engineers and stakeholders

  • High agency, high tempo, and genuine excitement about making people safer online

Nice to have

  • Experience with security, identity or privacy products (for example password managers, authenticators, VPNs or identity platforms)

  • Founding or early-stage startup experience

  • Product-led growth from individual users into team or company adoption

  • Experience shipping browser extensions or mobile apps

  • Interest in AI agents and developer tooling, and how they'll change authentication

  • An interest in cyber security
