About Us
Job Description
Company: Guidepoint Financial Services (the RIA stood up alongside Guidepoint’s growing family of accounting firms)
Location: West Virginia
Reports to: Ownership / Board
About the Role
Guidepoint is building a fully integrated professional services platform that combines tax compliance and advisory with wealth management and financial planning under one client experience. The accounting side is scaling quickly (about 2,000 returns this year, 3,000-4,000 next year due to acquisitions and organic growth) while Guidepoint Financial Services stands up as its partner RIA.
As the Founding Wealth Advisor, you will be the first dedicated wealth professional and the day-to-day leader of the RIA. You will help shape the service model, investment approach, technology, onboarding, and team, while converting a captive base of tax clients who are already inside the firm. This is a player-coach seat: hands-on client work plus building the firm from the ground up.
The model is straightforward. Tax returns and AI-parsed conversation insights feed a purpose-built CRM so advisors can prospect captive clients. Tax and wealth are fully integrated, with Wealth/Planning at 100 bps. The goal is repeatable conversion of high-intent households and small-business owners already in the platform, with a conservative plan of about 100 clients converted per year., and $50M in AUM
Client Base
They predominantly serve:
Households in the roughly $250k–$750k AGI range
Small business owners with about $200k–$1M of discretionary earnings
Retirees
A growing number of higher-end exceptions
Key Responsibilities
Build and lead the RIA. Design workflows, client experience, and go-to-market in partnership with accounting leadership and the head of compliance.
Drive conversion and growth. Use warm introductions from the accounting client base. Identify tax-efficient wealth opportunities (tax-loss harvesting, retirement planning, investment allocation tied to tax outcomes) and convert them into RIA relationships. Base-case growth assumes about 100 clients per year at a conservative average of ~$500k AUM (~$50M AUM added per year).
Deliver integrated advice. Provide wealth management, financial planning, and investment advisory with year-round tax coordination, not reactive April-only planning.
Build and scale the team. Start as a player-coach, then hire and mentor advisors, planners, and support staff. Build SOPs and a scalable client experience on a strong tech stack (including platforms with strong tax tools, such as Altruist or similar).
Foster tax + wealth integration. Work closely with CPAs and tax professionals across Guidepoint on cross-referral processes, joint client strategies, and a true one-firm experience.
Operational and strategic leadership. Help define investment policy, risk management, technology choices, and firm positioning.
Regulatory and compliance. Work with the head of compliance (experienced Series 65 and JD specializing in RIA Compliance) to meet fiduciary and regulatory standards.
Requirements
Credentials (required): Series 65 (or 66/7) and CFP®. Strongly preferred: CFA, EA, or demonstrated deep tax-planning knowledge. Insurance licenses are a plus.
Experience: 5–10+ years in wealth management or financial advisory, with a track record serving mass-affluent and high-net-worth clients and converting or building a book. RIA background preferred.
Mindset: Entrepreneurial “hustle + technical depth.” Excited to build, not only maintain a book. Strong EQ with clients and CPA partners. Comfortable building process, using technology/AI, and scaling. Aligned with long-term firm building.
Benefits
Compensation
Base: $150,000, increasing $25,000 each year, capped at $300,000
Cash Incentive: 10% of gross advisory fees and capped at ($500k total cash comp
Equity: 10% fully diluted compensation vesting over 10 years with a realistic path to $1M in total comp by year 5, and $3M in total comp by year 10.
What Else We Offer
Full administrative, technology, and operational support from the accounting platform so the advisor stays focused on clients and growth
A differentiated seat at the intersection of tax and wealth, with built-in captive demand
Long-term ownership mindset on the firm side (building for durability, not a short-term exit)
This is a strong fit for a technically solid, relationship-oriented CFP who wants to move beyond only managing a book and into building and leading a firm with a real conversion engine behind it.
