Software Engineer – FoxOpen / Oracle

Location: Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – minimum 2 days onsite per week

Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extension options

Start Date: January 2027

Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance

Bridge IT Engineering is seeking multiple experienced Software Engineers (FoxOpen / Oracle) to support a major digital transformation program within a Federal Government department. This opportunity will see you working within a multidisciplinary team, designing, developing and supporting enterprise applications using FoxOpen and Oracle technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure and maintain FoxOpen and Oracle applications.
• Develop new functionality and enhance existing enterprise systems.
• Undertake defect resolution, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Develop and maintain integrations using APIs, Azure services and middleware.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners and technical stakeholders.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and technical documentation.
• Support applications within Agile and DevOps environments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and technical uplift initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years' recent Software Engineering experience within a Commonwealth Government or similar large-scale environment.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with FoxOpen and Oracle technologies (mandatory).
• Strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development experience.
• Experience working with XML data structures and XQuery.
• Application development experience using C# or Java.
• Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills

• Relevant qualifications or industry certifications.
• Experience delivering digital transformation projects.
• Understanding of the Essential Eight or enterprise security frameworks.
