About LoftyInc Capital
LoftyInc Capital is a pan-African early-stage venture capital firm that has backed 150+ companies across 25 African markets, including Flutterwave, Wave, Moove, and Andela. We manage three funds, with a team spanning Lagos, Cairo, San Francisco, Dubai, and Houston.
The Role
We are looking for a trusted communications adviser to work directly with LoftyInc Capital’s leadership on how the firm shows up in the world.
This is not a social media or marketing-calendar role. You will shape the firm’s external narrative, exercise judgment on where we should and should not appear, and turn leadership priorities into meaningful visibility across media, content, events, and industry platforms.
This role offers meaningful influence and direct access to leadership, with a flexible, fractional commitment. It is suited to an experienced professional who can operate at a senior level, exercise independent judgment, and translate strategy into results without needing a full-time role.
What You Will Do
Narrative & Positioning
· Shape the firm’s external narrative and advise on positioning for the Managing Partner and leadership team.
· Own the communications and thought leadership roadmap, aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities.
· Ensure our external presence is intentional, credible, and consistent: signal over noise.
Visibility & Engagements
· Identify, pursue, and coordinate high-value media, speaking, and publication opportunities.
· Evaluate events and sponsorships with clear ROI discipline, recommending where to participate and what to decline.
· Coordinate with event organizers and prepare leadership briefs, talking points, and messaging for key engagements.
Content & Execution
· Define what content should exist, where it should live, and how it should be expressed, ensuring it gets delivered to a high standard.
· Maintain quality and consistency across LinkedIn, media, the website, and relevant ecosystem platforms.
· Direct external agencies, freelancers, and other resources where needed, ensuring quality, accountability, and value for money.
· Track performance and refine the approach based on what is working, what is not, and where opportunities are emerging.
Portfolio Storytelling
· Surface and amplify compelling stories from across the portfolio, connecting company milestones to broader themes in African technology and entrepreneurship.
· Explore initiatives such as a quarterly portfolio or ecosystem newsletter.
· Advise portfolio companies on communications and positioning from time to time, where appropriate.
Strategic Counsel & Reputation
· Serve as a thought partner to leadership, bringing an independent perspective and challenging assumptions constructively.
· Help define not just what to do, but what not to do.
· Anticipate reputational risks and lead communications strategy during sensitive situations or crises, working closely with leadership and relevant advisers.
Who We’re Looking For
· Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, public relations, brand, marketing communications, or thought leadership.
· A track record of advising senior executives, founders, investors, or other high-profile leaders.
· Experience building executive visibility, shaping narratives, and managing external communications.
· Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, and editorial judgment.
· A strong understanding of earned media, social media, digital content, and multi-channel communications.
· The confidence to advise senior leadership, challenge assumptions constructively, and exercise independent judgment.
· The ability to work autonomously in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate strategic direction into reliable execution.
· Established relationships with relevant media, event organizers, and industry platforms are a plus.
· Familiarity with venture capital, startups, and the African technology ecosystem is an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
· A clear, consistent, and differentiated narrative for LoftyInc Capital.
· Greater visibility and share of voice for the firm and its leadership on the platforms that matter.
· Better, not simply more, visibility, reflected in the quality of media coverage, audience engagement, website traffic, and qualified inbound enquiries.
· More disciplined participation in high-value events and industry opportunities.
· Portfolio success stories amplified systematically.
· A clear set of agreed objectives and metrics, reviewed with leadership to assess progress and refine the strategy.
How to Apply
Apply through LinkedIn Jobs and include:
· Your CV or LinkedIn profile.
· A short note of up to 400 words explaining how you would sharpen LoftyInc Capital’s external narrative in your first 90 days.
· Links to two or three examples of communications, positioning, or thought leadership work you have led, with a brief note on your role and impact.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
LoftyInc Capital welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
