Role Description The Freelance Books/Films/Songs Review Writer internship role involves researching and reviewing newly released books, films, and songs that align with Book Bulletin’s audience. On a day-to-day basis, the intern will draft concise, engaging reviews, propose titles for coverage, and collaborate with the editorial team to refine story angles and maintain a consistent tone. Responsibilities include meeting content deadlines, fact-checking key details, and incorporating feedback to improve the clarity and impact of each piece. This is an internship role based in Hong Kong SAR with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing some tasks to be completed from home while attending occasional in-person meetings or events.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in storytelling and critique across books, films, and music, with the ability to write clear, engaging reviews.
• Music skills relevant to reviewing songs, such as familiarity with Music and Lyrics and the ability to analyze song structure and themes.
• Understanding of creative aspects of music-making, including Music Composition and Lyricist work, to provide informed commentary on artistic choices.
• Exposure to Music Production processes and terminology to evaluate production quality and sound design when reviewing songs.
• Excellent written English, attention to detail, and ability to adapt tone for different media (books, films, songs).
• Comfort working in a student-led, collaborative environment and taking initiative on pitches and topics.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a hybrid setting in Hong Kong SAR, managing both in-person and remote responsibilities.
• Prior experience in reviewing, blogging, school publications, or creative writing is beneficial, though not required.
