About Us

We are two experienced professionals, bringing together expertise in positive psychology, coaching psychology, leadership development, education and workplace learning.

Through The Positive Psychologist, we design and deliver engaging, evidence-informed corporate training and professional development programmes that help people, teams and organisations thrive.

Our experience includes delivering workshops and development programmes across universities, the NHS, education, public sector organisations and other professional environments.

We believe that meaningful professional development goes beyond simply sharing information. Our workshops are interactive, practical and designed to create lasting changes in the way people think, communicate, collaborate and lead.

We are now looking for a motivated, commercially minded freelance business development professional to help us introduce our training programmes to more organisations across the UK.

What Would You Be Selling?

We offer a growing portfolio of interactive workshops and development programmes designed to address some of the most important challenges facing organisations today.

1. Communication, Coaching Skills & Better Conversations

Helping managers, leaders and teams communicate with greater confidence, curiosity and effectiveness.

Our training explores:

  • The power of coaching questions and active listening
  • Navigating challenging conversations
  • Building trust and understanding
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Encouraging ownership, accountability and independent problem-solving
  • Reducing misunderstandings and unnecessary conflict

2. Psychological Safety & High-Performing Teams

Helping organisations create environments where people feel able to contribute, challenge ideas, share concerns and learn from mistakes.

Topics include:

  • Building psychologically safe teams
  • Creating cultures of openness and trust
  • Encouraging collaboration and innovation
  • Strengthening team relationships
  • Developing more inclusive leadership behaviours

3. Navigating Change, Uncertainty & Setbacks

Equipping employees and leaders with the psychological and practical skills to respond constructively to change.

Our workshops explore:

  • Developing adaptive thinking and emotional agility
  • Managing uncertainty and setbacks
  • Recognising and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Building resilience and self-leadership
  • Strengthening confidence and personal agency

4. Leadership Development & Empowering Others

Supporting managers and emerging leaders to develop a more effective, coaching-oriented leadership style.

Areas include:

  • Coaching rather than directing
  • Developing others through powerful questions
  • Supporting autonomy, motivation and accountability
  • Building confidence in leadership conversations
  • Creating conditions for greater engagement and performance

5. Confidence, Strengths & Workplace Wellbeing

Drawing on positive and coaching psychology to help employees develop the psychological resources needed to perform and flourish.

Topics include:

  • Recognising and applying personal strengths
  • Developing self-awareness and self-belief
  • Managing stress and emotional responses
  • Building positive workplace relationships
  • Supporting motivation, engagement and sustainable performance

Our Training Formats

We offer flexible options to meet different organisational needs, including:

  • Standalone interactive workshops
  • Half-day and full-day training sessions
  • Three-part development programmes
  • Six-part programmes for deeper learning and behavioural change
  • Bespoke training tailored to organisational priorities

Our approach combines psychological research with practical tools, reflective exercises, coaching conversations and opportunities to apply learning to real workplace challenges.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced freelance business development professional who can help us expand our corporate client base.

Your role will focus on identifying and developing opportunities with organisations that could benefit from our training and development programmes.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Identifying prospective corporate clients and relevant decision-makers
  • Building relationships with HR, Learning & Development and organisational development professionals
  • Introducing our workshops and programmes to prospective clients
  • Generating qualified enquiries and arranging introductory meetings
  • Following up on opportunities and supporting the development of new business relationships
  • Working collaboratively with us to identify emerging client needs and commercial opportunities

We will provide information about our training portfolio, professional backgrounds and relevant delivery experience to support your conversations.

Who We're Looking For

We would particularly welcome enquiries from professionals who:

  • Have experience in B2B business development, ideally within corporate training, coaching, leadership development, HR or consultancy
  • Understand how organisations purchase learning and development services
  • Have existing relationships or networks within HR, L&D or organisational leadership
  • Are confident developing relationships with senior decision-makers
  • Can communicate the value of professional development in terms of meaningful organisational outcomes
  • Are proactive, professional, self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Value ethical, relationship-led business development rather than high-pressure sales techniques

Experience selling professional services or training programmes would be particularly advantageous.

What We Offer

  • A flexible, remote freelance opportunity
  • Commission-based remuneration, with terms agreed transparently in advance
  • A varied portfolio of evidence-informed training programmes
  • Access to our professional expertise and marketing materials
  • The opportunity to develop a collaborative working relationship with two experienced facilitators
  • Potential for an ongoing partnership as our corporate training business expands

This is a self-employed, commission-only opportunity, with no guaranteed salary or retainer. Commission arrangements, payment triggers and responsibilities will be agreed in writing before work begins.

We envisage beginning with an initial trial period to explore how we work together and assess the potential for a longer-term partnership.

Interested?

If you have experience introducing corporate training, coaching or professional development services to organisations, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send a brief introduction outlining your relevant business development experience, the sectors you have worked with and any existing connections within the corporate HR or Learning & Development market.

Thank you very much.
