Description
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Web Developer to support the analysis, redesign, and redevelopment of a high-profile public-facing website focused on financial and institutional information for investors, public stakeholders, and member organisations.
This assignment is structured as a 49-day contract spread across several months, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of web architects, content specialists, and designers.
The objective is to transform an existing website into a modern, user-centric digital experience that combines the credibility of a public institution with the visual appeal and sophistication typically associated with leading financial organisations.
Project Objectives
The successful consultant will help deliver a state-of-the-art website that:
- Enhances stakeholder engagement and communication.
- Presents complex financial information in a clear and accessible format.
- Improves usability, navigation, and user experience.
- Strengthens the visual identity and overall online presence.
- Supports a modern content strategy and information architecture.
- Aligns with strict publishing, accessibility, security, and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse the current website structure, content, and user journeys.
- Advise on the redesign of website architecture and navigation.
- Propose user-friendly content structures within the technical and governance constraints of the publishing environment.
- Collaborate closely with content writers, web architects, designers, and project stakeholders.
- Develop and implement front-end enhancements to improve usability and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute technical expertise to support content restructuring and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, web governance requirements, and platform constraints.
- Support integration of interactive features and data-driven components where appropriate.
- Assist with testing, validation, deployment, and maintenance planning.
Project Delivery Approach
The engagement will be delivered through three key phases:
Sprint 1: Platform Setup & Content Restructuring
- Review existing website architecture.
- Define updated information architecture and navigation.
- Support content reorganisation and page structure recommendations.
- Establish development environment and technical framework.
Sprint 2: Feature Enhancement & Interactivity
- Develop new functionality and user-experience improvements.
- Explore interactive elements, dashboards, and analytical tools.
- Enhance stakeholder engagement through improved presentation and accessibility.
Sprint 3: Validation, Deployment & Maintenance
- Conduct testing and validation activities.
- Implement final refinements and optimisations.
- Support deployment and transition to maintenance mode.
- Provide technical recommendations for future evolution of the website.
Required Skills and Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of modern web technologies and standards, including: HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript
- Experience with at least one back-end development language such as: PHP Java or equivalent enterprise-level technologies
- Experience with API integrations and web services.
- Understanding of enterprise web architectures and content management systems.
- Experience developing within highly regulated or governance-driven environments.
Content & Publishing Platforms
- Practical experience with Drupal or a comparable enterprise content management platform.
- Experience working with large-scale publishing environments.
- Knowledge of website content structuring and information architecture.
Desired Experience
- Experience with public-sector or large institutional websites.
- Familiarity with enterprise publishing platforms and structured content environments.
- Experience supporting complex stakeholder-facing digital communication projects.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams of designers, content specialists, and technical stakeholders.
Language Requirements
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
Consultant Profile
You are a hands-on web developer with strong front-end expertise and a passion for creating intuitive digital experiences. You are comfortable translating business and communication objectives into technically sound solutions while working within structured and highly governed environments. You can balance creativity and innovation with practical platform constraints and stakeholder requirements.
