Skyword is seeking experienced writers with a proven ability to produce authoritative, technically precise content about regional commercial banking and business finance for an ongoing, high-cadence retainer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicating highly advanced concepts in a clear, concise, and conversational format.
- Participating in strategy discussions and campaign roadmapping
- Conducting in-depth interviews with executive leadership, commercial lenders, treasury management directors, data analysts, and local business leaders
- Translating high-level client discussions and case studies into content that surfaces original insight rather than repackaging generic talking points
- Conveying a point of view on relationship-driven, "whole picture" banking that adds to the market conversation and establishes the financial institutions as trusted advisors
- Reviewing and shaping campaign assets derived from in-depth long-form cornerstone content (e.g., email nurture series, webinars, social posts, sales enablement assets)
- Deep experience in commercial banking, corporate finance, or regional market dynamics, either working in the financial sector or writing extensively about it
WHO YOU ARE:
You are a commercial banking specialist with a proven ability to translate complex financial dynamics, cash flow strategies, and market conditions into smarter business decisions for CEOs, CFOs, commercial developers, and business owners.
Additionally, you:
- Are comfortable working with economic insights, market research, and business data, including interviewing data analysts, risk officers, and treasury specialists
- Understand how working capital management, corporate lending, treasury services, fraud prevention, and regional economic factors all work together
- Bring deep vertical expertise across key regional industries, including manufacturing, agriculture (farming economics and multigenerational financing), commercial real estate, and construction
- Understand the distinction between transactional product marketing and value-add, relationship-based commercial banking
- Can address the operational realities of growing mid-market and small businesses, from customer concentration risk to cash flow resilience, capital acquisition, and succession planning
- Bonus if you have familiarity with Mid-West regional banking
WHAT YOU’LL CREATE:
- Long-Form Educational Content: Editorial cornerstone guides (2,500+ words) structured for both human readers and search/AI discovery, covering topics like financial clarity for growing businesses, cash flow resilience, relationship-based business lending, and succession planning.
WHAT YOU’LL INFORM & REVIEW:
- Derivative Educational & Sales Assets: Thought leadership articles, interactive self-assessments (e.g., financial growth checklists), internal sales enablement one-pagers for relationship managers, webinar outlines/plans, and multi-touch email nurture sequences.
- Channel-Specific Short-Form Content: Platform-tailored social media content (primarily LinkedIn) designed for commercial decision-makers.
- Content Tailored to Sophisticated Audiences: Materials that resonate with leaders who can immediately spot shallow understanding:
- Growth-oriented business owners, CEOs, and founders
- CFOs, controllers, and corporate finance executives
- Commercial real estate developers, agricultural operators, and industrial business leaders
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
