Markit is how procurement teams across Europe buy IT products. Around 230 people, 50+ countries, one platform. Search, product pages, checkout, approvals and the customer account are what buyers use every day, and the next version of that storefront is being designed now.
You join a product engineering team that is strong on the backend and needs someone who owns the frontend. We are moving from a .NET monolith to .NET services with React on the front end. React with TypeScript on Next.js is the standard for everything new and customer-facing. The design system is designed in Figma on Radix, implemented with Base UI React and Tailwind tokens, and documented in Storybook. The first components are in place and the first pages are moving onto it. Your job is to turn it into the standard the whole team builds on, and to build the new storefront with it.
You own the frontend, you do not carry it alone. Several engineers contribute to it; you set the conventions, review, pair, and make sure it keeps working while you are on holiday. The internal back office stays on Blazor for now, so expect to touch it now and then.

- 5+ years building production web applications, most of it in React and TypeScript. Next.jsand app router is a plus.
- You have set up a React codebase or design system that other engineers built on, and you can say what you would do differently next time.
- Strong on the fundamentals: accessibility to WCAG AA, performance, testing, responsive layout, browser behaviour. Tailwind and headless component libraries (Radix, Base UI or similar) are a plus.
- You write tests as part of the work, not after it. You know what belongs in a unit, componentor end-to-end test, and you fix a flaky test rather than rerun it.
- You have built multi-language, multi-currency interfaces and know what localisation does to a layout.
- Comfortable working against .NET APIs and reading backend code. Blazor experience is a plus.
- You write decisions down and explain them to backend engineers without talking down.
- Fluent English; Estonian or another European language is a plus.
- Own the React and Next.js architecture for customer-facing surfaces: project structure,component patterns, server and client rendering, state, build and testing setup.
- Maintain and expand the test suite : unit tests with Vitest, component tests in Storybook,end-to-end tests with Playwright, and accessibility checks in the pipeline.
- Shape the APIs the frontend needs together with the backend engineers, so screens do not work around service boundaries.
- Build the next storefront with product and design: search, product pages, checkout, approval flows, account.
- Move buyer-facing screens from the legacy platform onto the new stack, so buyers keep everything they rely on.
- Turn the design system our product designer owns into the React component library the team builds from, and keep it the one place components come from.
- Raise the frontend skill of the team through reviews, pairing, written conventions and a reference implementation others copy.
The challenge
- Migration and new design run in parallel. You ship the new storefront while old screens still need to move.
- The team is backend-heavy. Others learn frontend from you, so you explain as much as you build.
- B2B buyers in 50+ countries, many languages, approval rules per customer. Nothing here is a simple checkout.
- The standard you set is the one we live with for years. Getting it right beats getting it fast.
- Ownership of the frontend standard for a platform in the middle of a rebuild. You shape it, you do not inherit it.
- Headquarters is Tallinn, Estonia, and that is where most of the team sits. Remote from anywhere in the EU works for the right candidate. Moderate travel to Tallinn.
- A small, senior team. Decisions get made quickly and you are close to leadership.
- AI tools are part of daily work here. About half the team uses Claude Code every day.
- A product used by thousands of B2B buyers across Europe, with a broad supplier network behind every order.
