Job Title: Freelance Frontend Developer (1-Year Contract)

Location: Belgium (Hybrid: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Freelance Frontend Developer to build modern, responsive, and high-performance user interfaces for our web applications. In this role, you will translate designs and requirements into clean, maintainable, and scalable frontend code, ensuring an exceptional user experience across devices and browsers. Your expertise will drive UI quality, performance, and consistency across our digital products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop responsive, user-friendly web interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue).
• Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality, pixel-accurate implementations.
• Build reusable components and design system elements to ensure consistency and maintainability across applications.
• Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility, including accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
• Optimize application performance, including load times, rendering, and bundle size.
• Integrate frontend applications with REST/GraphQL APIs and backend services.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with designers, backend developers, and product stakeholders to deliver features end-to-end.
• Manage state and application architecture using modern patterns (e.g., Redux, Context API, NgRx).
• Support CI/CD workflows, including builds, testing, and automated deployments.
• Debug and resolve UI issues, cross-browser inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks;

Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Frontend Developer or in a similar role.
• Strong expertise in at least one major framework (React, Angular, or Vue) with deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Hands-on experience with responsive design and CSS frameworks/preprocessors (e.g., Tailwind, SASS/SCSS, styled-components).
• Experience integrating with REST/GraphQL APIs and handling asynchronous data flows.
• Familiarity with state management solutions (Redux, NgRx, Pinia, or similar).
• Knowledge of build tools and bundlers (Vite, Webpack, npm/yarn/pnpm).
• Understanding of testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright) and a testing mindset.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO fundamentals is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps basics is beneficial.
• Certifications or demonstrable portfolio/projects showcasing frontend expertise are a strong plus.

Languages

• Fluent in English (required for collaboration).
• Fluent in French or Dutch (required for client/stakeholder communication).
