About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Frontend Engineer to lead the development of a modern web application using Next.js 16 (App Router), React 19, and TypeScript. The frontend will be part of a broader microservices architecture deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will build the application from the ground up, write production-ready code daily, shape architectural decisions, and represent the frontend team in stakeholder and client discussions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable frontend solutions for medium and large-scale projects.
• Own planning, estimation, technical design, implementation, and quality assurance.
• Define and maintain frontend architecture standards and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code review support to team members.
• Collaborate with backend, UX/UI, QA, DevOps, and Product teams.
• Continuously improve team capabilities through knowledge sharing and professional development.
• Act as a technical client-facing representative when needed, including leading workshops and architectural discussions.
• Support commercial activities such as solution scoping, estimations, and pre-sales engagements.

Core Expertise — Must Have

• Strong production experience with React and Next.js using the App Router.
• Deep understanding of SSR, SSG, ISR, and hybrid rendering strategies.
• Expert-level TypeScript and modern frontend architecture design skills.
• Experience integrating frontend applications within distributed microservices ecosystems, including API contract awareness.
• Strong knowledge of frontend testing, including tools such as Playwright and Jest.
• Ability to define and maintain architectural standards.
• Experience leading technical decisions and mentoring engineers.

Should Have

• Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs in distributed systems.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful or Sanity.
• Experience delivering frontend applications within CI/CD pipelines and containerized cloud environments such as Docker and AKS.
• Performance optimization and accessibility best practices.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

Nice to Have

• Terraform basics and the ability to understand infrastructure definitions.
• Experience with commerce platforms such as Shopify or Adobe Commerce.
• Monitoring and observability tooling such as Application Insights or similar.
• Familiarity with backend technologies such as .NET, Node.js, or PHP.
• Azure ecosystem awareness, including ACR, AKS, and Key Vault from a frontend deployment perspective.
• Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Browser error tracking and performance monitoring using Application Insights, OTLP, or similar tooling.

Technical Skills

• React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Tailwind, and modern build tooling such as Turbopack/Vite.
• Microservices and headless architecture.
• RESTful APIs and GraphQL within distributed architectures.
• Headless CMS platforms such as Contentful or Sanity.
• Frontend testing with Playwright and Jest, including independently deployed modules.
• CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices in multi-application environments.
• Accessibility, UX, performance, security, and scalability principles.
• Git and modern version-control workflows.
• AI coding assistance such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• Server-side technologies such as .NET, Node.js, and PHP.
• Docker.
