Purpose

We're looking for a Technical Lead – Frontend Infrastructure to join a challenging project — one of our most technically demanding builds, where this role owns the technical core.
This role owns the core technical architecture of our web-based and mobile-embedded platform. We are not looking for a dedicated native mobile specialist; our primary stack is web-first (Next.js). However, because regulated betting products interact with native capabilities — biometric authentication, payment gateways, secure token storage, and compliant geolocation — you should be comfortable navigating mobile wrappers (e.g., Capacitor) and understand how web and native layers interface. Deep native development (Swift/Kotlin) is not required on day one, but high-level familiarity with native build ecosystems helps ensure our web architecture integrates smoothly into mobile apps.

You'll also architect the app to evolve over time: keeping business logic, state management, and networking cleanly decoupled from the UI layer so the platform can adapt its approach as performance and product needs grow.
This is an individual contributor role today; as the project scales, this will grow into a team you help build and lead.
More than a traditional developer, we're looking for someone with an analyst's mindset: strong at asking the right questions, evaluating trade-offs between architectural alternatives, and modeling complex systems — using AI-assisted development tools as part of the workflow, not as a replacement for that judgment.
Given the scope of this role — foundational architecture for a regulated, real-money platform at scale — reliability and resilience are first-class concerns, not an afterthought.

In this role, you'll

• Design and own the core infrastructure of our proprietary Next.js frontend: project structure, build pipeline, environment/config strategy, and deployment architecture.
• Define and implement a multi-brand / multi-tenant architecture (feature flagging, per-brand configuration) so a single codebase can serve all our markets.
• Own the mobile wrapper strategy (e.g., Capacitor) and how our web code runs in native shells. Define how web APIs connect with native capabilities (biometrics, secure storage, geolocation) and coordinate with native specialists or third-party plugins when deep native work is required.
• Collaborate on the multi-brand binary distribution pipeline (using Fastlane, Xcode Schemes, and Gradle Flavors) to ensure our frontend codebase builds cleanly for multiple app listings.
• Decide and implement the right Next.js rendering strategy for a mobile-embedded context — static exports and edge API consumption rather than dynamic SSR.
• Architect the app with business logic, state management, and networking strictly decoupled from the UI layer. You will be expected to propose, defend, and establish the technical decisions regarding state management, real-time data streaming (odds/events), and frontend testing strategies suited for a multi-brand ecosystem.
• Implement compliant, anti-spoofing geolocation appropriate for a regulated betting product.
• Ensure the app meets app store requirements for regulated/betting apps through robust native functionality.
• Define a safe update strategy (including OTA tooling) with version control appropriate for apps with real-time, live user sessions.
• Integrate observability tooling (e.g., Sentry, Datadog) that correlates native and JavaScript errors in a unified view.
• Build with reliability and resilience as core design constraints — graceful degradation, monitoring, and recovery paths appropriate for a regulated, real-money platform.
• Drive frontend performance work end-to-end (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scoring), including designing around structural constraints like third-party SDK/CDN dependencies.
• Partner closely with our DevOps team. While DevOps owns the underlying infrastructure, you must possess strong foundational knowledge of modern frontend CI/CD, build pipelines, and environment strategies to define exactly what the frontend application needs to build and deploy safely at scale.
• Define technical standards, tooling, and best practices for the frontend codebase that the rest of the team will build on.
• Integrate with backend and third-party systems at the infrastructure level as needed.
• Partner with the Developer Leader and Infra & Security to align frontend infrastructure with company-wide standards (AWS, security, cost optimization).
• Document architectural decisions and infrastructure setup so the approach is maintainable and transferable to the wider team.
  

What we look for in an exceptional candidate

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including ownership of foundational architecture for a high-traffic, real-money or high-stakes platform — this role sets the technical foundation the whole project is built on.
• Strong, hands-on experience architecting and shipping production Next.js applications at scale.
• Proven experience designing multi-tenant or multi-brand frontend architectures (feature flags, per-tenant configuration, shared codebase strategies).
• Familiarity with mobile wrappers (Capacitor or similar) for embedding web applications into mobile shells, with an understanding of how web and native contexts interact.
• Experience implementing anti-spoofing / mock-location detection geolocation on mobile, ideally in a regulated (gaming, fintech, or similar) context.
• Experience with OTA update tooling (Capgo, Ionic Appflow, or similar) and safe versioning strategies for apps with live, real-time user sessions.
• Track record designing for reliability and resilience in high-stakes, regulated production systems — not just feature delivery.
• Comfortable working at the infrastructure layer: deployment architecture, environment strategy, build tooling — not just application code.
• Strong ownership mentality: this role sets the technical foundation others will build on.
• Comfort working with AI-assisted development tools as part of the day-to-day workflow.
  

Bonus points if you also have

• Basic experience or familiarity with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development or plugin creation.
• Familiarity with the infra/release stack (AWS, CI/CD, app store releases).
• Prior experience in the gaming, betting, or fintech industry.
• Communication skills in written and spoken English or Portuguese.
• Experience leading/mentoring teams
