Frontend / UI Developer (React + TypeScript) – Madrid

Our client is one of Europe's leading asset managers. It has a global presence and runs active, passive and alternative investment strategies for clients worldwide.

It is now building a new technology hub in Madrid. The hub will deliver full end-to-end technology for the whole group worldwide. It is not a satellite or support office. Over the next 18 months it will grow to 40–60 technologists, working in areas such as Architecture, Data Platforms, Artificial Intelligence and Investment Technology.

The company is modernizing its technology and prefers to build its own tools rather than buy SaaS products. It is looking for technologists first: you don't need a background in finance, as you'll learn the domain on the job.

If you join now, you'll be part of the hub from its early days. You'll help shape how the teams are organized and how technology decisions are made in Madrid.

The challenge

You'll join the Investment Risk technology team and lead the UI work on its modernization program. You'll work in a collaborative, international team. Your job will be to turn complex risk workflows into clean, intuitive and scalable interfaces.

What you'll do

• Lead and build modern, responsive and maintainable interfaces with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML and CSS.

• Shape the frontend architecture, component design, usability, performance, accessibility and consistency across the application.

• Work with business analysts, product stakeholders, developers, testers and architects to turn complex requirements into user-friendly solutions.

• Work with the backend team on Java / Spring services (API design, integration, troubleshooting and end-to-end validation).

• Build reusable UI components and patterns that speed up delivery and improve quality.

• Take part in the full delivery lifecycle: refinement, design, development, code reviews, testing, releases and post-release improvements.

• Act as the technical owner of the UI area: guide decisions, support colleagues and raise engineering standards.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of software development experience, with strong hands-on skills in React, TypeScript and JavaScript.

• A solid understanding of React application architecture: component design, state management, routing, testing, performance optimization and maintainable code structure.

• A good eye for design and the ability to build clean, intuitive interfaces for complex business applications.

• Experience connecting frontends to APIs, authentication flows, data models and asynchronous processes.

• Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, agile delivery and secure development.

• Experience using AI tools to work more productively, with sound judgment and responsible use.

• Fluent English, written and spoken (the team is international).

• Ownership, curiosity, a focus on quality and a drive to improve how the team works.

Nice to have

• Backend experience with Java and Spring Boot (REST APIs, service integration, debugging).

• Experience with design systems or component libraries.

• Experience leading a UI workstream or mentoring other developers.

• German.
