FINE is looking for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper & HR Benefits Lead to manage our day-to-day accounting operations while serving as the primary lead for employee benefits and people support. This role offers the flexibility to work on-site, fully remote, or a hybrid combination of both, with occasional periodic visits to our office as needed. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations while serving as the primary point of contact for employee benefits and related HR administration. You’ll interact with FINE leaders, project managers, and staff, and experience some contact with clients and vendors. In addition to hands-on bookkeeping responsibilities, you’ll supervise one employee, provide direction and support, review their work for accuracy, and help ensure accounting and administrative processes are completed efficiently and consistently. Essential Functions Accounting & Bookkeeping Oversee the complete accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, month-end close, and financial reporting. Support project managers with accounting-related tasks such as monthly billings and work-in-process calculations. Monitor and report on cash flow. Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts. Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve accounting issues promptly. Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial documentation. Prepare information and supporting documentation for tax filings, audits, and outside accountants. Assist with annual censuses, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed. Payroll & HR Administration Coordinate payroll processing and ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted on time. Maintain accurate employee records related to compensation, deductions, benefits, and employment status. Coordinate with payroll providers and other HR vendors. Maintain confidentiality of employee, payroll, financial, and benefits information. Employee Benefits Administration Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding company benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and other company-sponsored programs, as applicable. Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including benefits enrollment and termination requirements. Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll deductions to ensure accuracy. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities and employee communications. HR Support & Compliance Assist with updating employee policies, procedures, and HR documentation. Support management with employee-related administrative needs. Work with payroll provider, benefits broker, insurance carriers, HR consultants, retirement plan providers, and other benefit vendors to resolve issues. Assist with compliance-related requirements, notices, filings, and documentation associated with employee benefit programs. Stay informed about changes affecting company benefit plans and communicate relevant information to management and employees. Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information. Qualifications Financial & HR Expertise: 3–5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll processing, and benefits administration. Technical Skills: Proficient with QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Google Sheets. Professional Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, effective collaborator, adaptable across tight deadlines, and trusted with sensitive data. Next-Level Qualifications Agency Experience: Background in creative agency operations. Software: Experience with Rippling (HRIS/payroll) or Harvest (time tracking). Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business (or equivalent experience). FINE Benefits We’re real humans.
