Senior Full-Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails)

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer to take ownership of our core platform, working directly with leadership with zero bureaucratic friction.

About The Role

You will own the technical direction and decide how things get built. This is an autonomous role for someone who finds technical responsibility energising and wants a genuine say in shaping the product roadmap.

• Your First 6 Weeks: You’ll be shipping code right away, tackling a clear roadmap of client-requested features and smoothing out application rough edges, rather than spending a quarter reading documentation.
• What’s Next: Enterprise HR system integrations (without per-licence pricing models), advanced internationalisation for our expanding global market, and internal tooling for our domain experts.

What We Are Looking For

• Core Experience: 6+ years building software, with proven experience at a senior or lead level.
• The Stack: Production-level experience with Ruby on Rails and TypeScript on the front end. You will operate comfortably across the full stack.
• Deployment & Ownership: Experience handling your own releases, migrations, backups, and restores (we run on a streamlined modern cloud setup).
• Legacy Mastery: Our platform has evolved robustly over a decade. You must be comfortable reading, understanding, and improving an established, mature codebase.
• Security & Diligence: Because we handle sensitive health-related data for real employees, you write defensively by habit and take data protection seriously.
• Pragmatic AI Usage: We expect you to leverage modern AI tools intelligently while applying rigorous engineering critical thinking to the output.

Advantageous Skills

• Advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, complex joins) & Postgres schema optimisation.
• Architectural patterns (CQRS, DDD, hexagonal architecture) and trade-off analysis.
• Containerised development/deployment, React/Next.js, or functional programming experience (Elixir, Scala, Clojure, OCaml).
• Familiarity with security frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, or GDPR.
