Job Title: Full Stack Engineer

Location: Remote (LATAM)

Employment Type: Full-time, remote job.

Work schedule: It overlaps U.S. Eastern Time (ET) and European/Spain business hours, providing coverage for meetings and coordination across both regions.

Contract Type: Independent Contractor—Long Term

Job overview:

We are looking for someone who can do the full job: design the architecture, write the code, ship to production, and make sure it stays up. You will not be handed specifications. You will get business problems and be expected to propose a solution, build it, and own it in production. We value decisions that move the product forward over decisions that are theoretically optimal. The right call is the one that ships, holds up in production, and can be reasoned about six months later or earlier. This is the kind of role where the pride comes from deciding what to build and seeing something you built being used by a client in production.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Node.js and Python, making decisions appropriate for the current stage (not over-engineered, not fragile).

• Design, optimize, and maintain relational data in SQL Server (schema design, query optimization, indexing).

• Implement code together with our current foundational engineer and help decide where to grow the team next.

• Build and ship AI-assisted contract analysis and licensor data normalization features using the OpenAI API, among others.

• Own the CI/CD pipeline and release process: define what “ready to deploy” means, enforce it, and make sure releases don’t break production.

• Write tests that matter: integration and end-to-end tests that catch real failures, not just unit tests that give a false sense of coverage.

• Set up and maintain production monitoring and alerting so failures are caught by tooling, not by a client email.

• Contribute to the frontend when needed or direct an external contractor.

• Operate on Azure: manage services (App Service, Functions, and Key Vault), control costs, and ensure infrastructure does not become a liability.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional software development with demonstrable full-stack experience.

• Strong expertise in Node.js and Python, with hands-on experience in SQL Server (T-SQL, schema design, query optimization). Relevant and equivalent experience with any other RDBMS can be accepted too.

• Proven ability to make architecture decisions independently: you have shipped systems you designed yourself.

• Hands-on DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment management (Azure is preferred; AWS can be accepted too).

• Experience running services in production, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response—you have been on-call and know what breaks.

• A testing mindset that goes beyond “it compiles”: integration tests, smoke tests in production, regression coverage on critical paths

• Comfortable working without a PO writing detailed tickets or a QA team catching your bugs

• Fluent communication skills in English and Spanish.

Nice to have:

• Practical experience with the OpenAI API (function calling, embeddings, or RAG pipelines) or similar LLM integration into production systems

• Familiarity with compliance, legal tech, contract management, or audit workflows

• Experience in a seed or early-stage product company
