Senior Full Stack Software Engineer
Day Shift, Remote (Philippines)
Cruise Control Group is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of robust, scalable, and secure web applications across the stack — front-end and back-end — that support the client's operations and growth.
About Cruise Control Group
Cruise Control Group is an Australian offshore staffing company that partners with a range of clients to build high-performing remote teams. We manage the end-to-end recruitment and support process, connecting skilled professionals with roles that offer genuine long-term career growth.
About the Client
The company is a vehicle subscription and fleet management provider, giving customers flexible access to vehicles without the commitments of traditional ownership or leasing.
About the Role
The Senior Full Stack Software Engineer takes ownership of the design, development, and maintenance of the client's digital platforms that power dealership and fleet operations. Working closely with product owners and engineering leadership, this role drives technical decisions, sets engineering standards, and mentors other developers while remaining hands-on across both front-end and back-end development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across the stack (frontend, backend, databases), championing an AI-first development approach.
- Lead the technical design and architecture of new features and systems, making sound decisions on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Own features end to end across the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to shape requirements and deliver high-quality features on time.
- Lead code reviews and define and uphold architectural patterns, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Drive the performance, quality, reliability, and responsiveness of applications, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and work closely with QA to shape test strategy, test plans, and automation coverage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, carrying out root-cause analysis and implementing lasting fixes.
- Lead the integration of third-party APIs and services.
- Ensure data security and privacy standards are built into all technical solutions.
- Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices (AWS or GCP).
- Maintain clear documentation of systems, architecture, workflows, and code changes.
- Play an active role in sprint planning, estimation, ceremonies, and retrospectives.
- Communicate technical concepts, trade-offs, and risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, supporting their technical growth and raising the overall capability of the team.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills
- Advanced, production-level expertise in React, including Tailwind CSS, and building scalable, reusable UI components.
- Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript for designing and building APIs.
- Solid hands-on experience with the Next.js framework.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimisation, and migrations.
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design and web services integration.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS or GCP) and DevOps practices.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions or similar).
- Strong experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.
- Strong grasp of software architecture, design patterns, and system design principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound technical judgement.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work autonomously and lead by example in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Essential Experience
- 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience, with a track record of delivering production web applications.
- Proven experience leading the design and delivery of features or projects from concept to production.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other developers.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, QA, and business stakeholders.
