About Pacey
Pacey is an AI marketing platform for in-house marketing teams. Every morning it shows them what changed overnight that matters to their brand. Then it helps them create, approve and publish the work to act on it: social posts, designs, video and documents.
We’re already working with brands in hospitality, retail and entertainment. Once teams start using Pacey, they don’t stop: time spent in Pacey is up 28% month on month.
Getting AI to make content is easy. Getting it to make something good is the hard part, and that’s what you’d be working on.
The role
You’ll work directly with Evan, our CTO and co-founder, and Richard, our CEO and co-founder. You and Evan will share responsibility for the product, platform and AI systems, with a real say in what we build and how we build it.
A big part of the challenge is creative quality. Can the system recognise an obvious idea? Does a design actually feel right for the brand? How do we know a change has made the output better? You’ll help turn those questions into engineering problems we can test and improve.
Our development workflow is built around AI coding agents, including Claude Code and Codex. You’ll use them daily, while owning the technical decisions, reviewing the code, testing changes and taking responsibility for what ships.
What you’ll work on
- AI systems: Build and improve the agent workflows behind Pacey’s ideas, designs and video. Develop how models generate, critique and refine work, build evals to measure quality, and make decisions about model selection, speed and cost.
- The customer product: Build onboarding, accounts, teams, permissions, billing, usage credits and reporting. Work with our designer to turn Figma designs into interfaces that work well on desktop and mobile.
- Publishing and integrations: Develop social publishing, scheduling, approvals and the content calendar, alongside notifications, email and WhatsApp.
- The platform: Improve CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, database migrations, monitoring and security. Make releases predictable, catch failures early and keep infrastructure costs under control.
Our stack
TypeScript, Node.js/Express, React/Vite, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud (Cloud Run and Cloud SQL), Firebase, GitHub Actions and Stripe.
Our AI systems use Replicate, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI and Google Gemini APIs.
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years building and shipping web products.
- Strong TypeScript across the front end and back end.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, including prompts, tool calling, structured outputs and handling model failures.
- Day-to-day experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, including writing clear specs, reviewing substantial changes and testing them before release.
- PostgreSQL experience, including safe changes to a live database.
- Experience with secure authentication and payments.
- Experience deploying and running applications on Google Cloud or AWS.
- A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Experience with agent harnesses, evals, social platform APIs, WhatsApp Business Platform or marketing tools would be useful. So would startup experience and a good eye for design.
Your first 90 days
You’ll work with Evan on:
- Making releases safer and more predictable.
- Improving one of our AI harnesses, with evals that demonstrate the improvement.
- Getting WhatsApp integration live for customers.
- Improving publishing reliability across supported social networks.
- Adding alerts that catch failed posts and stalled AI jobs.
What we offer
- A competitive salary and benefits package.
- A personal budget for AI coding tools.
- The chance to join our employee share option scheme once it’s set up.
Location
This is a hybrid role, with one day a week in our Dublin office. You must live in Ireland and have the right to work here.
Hiring Process
Three steps:
- A quick chat with our recruiter.
- An online technical test.
- A call with Evan to talk through your test, your approach and your thinking.
