About the role

Tyro Health is looking for a Software Engineer to help us build the next generation of digital health claiming and payment experiences. This is a full-stack role where frontend is your home — you care about how a product looks, feels and works for the people using it. You’ll join our Pro team, building customer-facing features across web, mobile and backend as we continue developing our Android-based terminal experience. You’ll work closely with Product, Design and Engineering to turn real customer needs into intuitive, accessible and reliable software.

What you'll do

• Build & Ship: Own customer-facing features from idea through to delivery, helping us continue to build out Tyro Health Pro and evolve the experience for our customers.

• Frontend Excellence: Build high-quality, accessible interfaces with a strong focus on usability, performance and the overall customer journey.

• Mobile Delivery: Contribute to our Android-based Pro application, working across React Native and mobile experiences as the product continues to grow.

• Full-Stack Development: Work beyond the UI when a feature needs it, building and integrating Node.js services and APIs to deliver complete experiences.

• Product Thinking: Get close to the problem, understand how customers will use what you’re building and spot edge cases or usability issues before they become problems.

• Design Collaboration: Partner closely with designers and product owners to turn designs and requirements into polished, functional experiences.

• Design Systems: Contribute to reusable components and our design system, helping create consistent experiences across Tyro Health products.

• Quality & Performance: Build automated tests and optimise performance so our products remain fast and reliable across different environments and connectivity conditions.

• Keep Learning: Move comfortably between frontend, mobile and backend work, picking up new technologies and approaches as the product evolves.

• Code Quality: Contribute constructively to code reviews, share what you know and help leave the codebase better than you found it.

What you'll bring

• React & TypeScript Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern frontend patterns and the ability to explain the thinking behind the approaches you use.

• Frontend Strength: Meaningful experience building and shipping polished, customer-facing applications, with frontend engineering as your core strength.

• Product Mindset: You think beyond the code to the person using the product- considering user journeys, usability, accessibility and how a feature actually feels in practice.

• Hands-on Experience: Around 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience is a useful guide, ideally within a fast-moving product, start-up or scale-up environment.

• Full-Stack Capability: You’re comfortable working beyond the frontend, including Node.js services, APIs and data when delivering a feature requires it.

• Mobile Experience: React Native and Android experience is highly desirable, particularly experience building or contributing to customer-facing mobile applications.

• UI/UX Eye: You can work closely with Design, understand the intent behind a design and identify potential edge cases, accessibility gaps and usability issues.

• Adaptability: You’re comfortable working with changing priorities, taking ownership and solving problems that aren’t always completely defined.

• Security Awareness: You understand that healthcare and payments involve sensitive data and approach security and privacy thoughtfully.

• Collaboration: You communicate well, take ownership of your work and contribute positively to code reviews and the wider engineering team.
