About the Role
Audien runs on a set of apps it built itself: an order management and CX desk, an AI call scoring platform, retail and warranty portals, a marketing command center, a consumer mobile app, and the data pipelines that feed all of them. The Full-Stack Engineer owns the day to day of this internal software. They keep the apps healthy, extend them as the business changes, and build small new tools when a team needs one. Requests come in through Slack and Linear from CX, sales, marketing and ops, and most changes go from request to production within a day. This is a fast, varied, AI-native role (Claude Code, Cursor), working closely with Audien's technical lead and one other engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and extend several production apps at once: Node/Express APIs, React and Angular frontends, Next.js portals, and a React Native mobile app.
- Pick up requests from CX, sales, marketing, and ops directly, scope them in conversation, and ship. Most changes should go from request to production within a day.
- Write and tune SQL against the warehouse for app features, reporting, and one-off questions from the business.
- Keep data flowing between systems: Shopify, Chargebee, Recharge, Five9, Klaviyo, and the warehouse. Fix integrations when they break and add new ones when a team needs them.
- Build small new tools when there's a gap: a portal, an internal dashboard, an automation, a Slack bot.
- Use Claude Code, Cursor, and similar tools as a core part of the workflow, and help extend the internal AI features already in the apps (call scoring, conversational analytics, LLM-backed automations).
- Review PRs, write clear tickets, and keep the codebase consistent with Audien's written Node and React conventions (small PRs, same-day review, frequent deploys).
- Be reachable during the business day (PST). When an order tool breaks, CX is waiting.
Must-Have Skills
- SQL: non-trivial analytical queries, joins across messy source tables, and enough performance sense not to take down the warehouse (used daily).
- React: production experience building and maintaining component-based frontends, including TypeScript.
- Node: production experience building and maintaining Node/Express (or similar) backends and REST APIs.
- AI-native workflow: already uses Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to write, refactor, and debug, and knows when to trust them and when not to.
- Fast turnaround on a real codebase: has shipped fixes and features to production the same day they were requested, more than once, in code they didn't originally write.
- Context switching: can hold four or five unrelated things in flight, drop one for a fire, and pick it back up without losing the thread.
- Self starter: asks the business what they need, figures out the rest, and doesn't wait for a fully written spec.
- Clear written communication: most stakeholder interaction happens in Slack and Linear, so they need to be understood by non-engineers.
Nice-to-Have
- Snowflake or another cloud warehouse, plus Fivetran, dbt, or reverse ETL patterns.
- Next.js and Vercel.
- Angular (one core app is Angular; the candidate doesn't need to love it, just be willing to work in it).
- React Native or Expo.
- Shopify Plus, Chargebee, or Recharge integrations.
- CX and contact center platforms such as Five9 or Kustomer.
- Klaviyo or similar marketing platforms.
- Building LLM features into products: Anthropic or OpenAI APIs, tool use, RAG, natural language to SQL.
- Omni, Looker, or a similar BI tool.
- Azure or GitHub Actions for deployment.
