Blanc Labs is a premier partner for global enterprises, leading the way in digitization, automation, and the development of next-generation digital products and services. Our expertise in digital transformation powers businesses to accelerate service delivery, drive customer engagement, and foster growth.
Alongside our client work, a small product team at Blanc Labs is building our own AI agent platform: agents that hold real conversations with customers across voice, SMS, and chat. The platform is already live in production with enterprise clients, and we operate with the pace and ownership of a startup, backed by the stability of an established firm. You’ll take features from idea to production and see them used by real clients.
The problems are real and hard, from making voice conversations feel natural to keeping them reliable in real-world conditions.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer who wants to build across the whole stack (backend services, web interfaces, and the AI agents themselves) and gets energy from solving hard problems rather than already knowing every answer.
This is a hybrid role in downtown Toronto, with 2-3 days a week in the office.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and ship features across the platform: backend services, APIs, and the Next.js interfaces our team and clients use
- Develop agent capabilities, including prompt assembly, tool and function calling, streaming responses, and conversation state
- Integrate real-time voice and messaging channels (telephony, SMS, web) alongside our technical lead
- Design data models and migrations with care for consistency and safe change
- Build background jobs and outbound processing with clear retry and failure handling
- Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing, and debug issues end to end, from the interface to the live conversation
- Bring ideas to the roadmap and prototype new agent capabilities
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- 2 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with production code you’ve shipped and supported
- Strong Python, including asynchronous programming (asyncio, FastAPI, or similar)
- Experience with React and TypeScript
- Comfort with relational databases (PostgreSQL), SQL, and migrations
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs, professionally or through side projects
- Working knowledge of Docker and a major cloud platform (Azure preferred)
- A habit of figuring things out: reading the docs, testing hypotheses, and asking good questions
Nice to Have
- Experience with Next.js
- Real-time media or telephony (WebRTC, SIP, programmable voice or SMS APIs)
- LLM evaluation or agent frameworks
- Experience working within data residency or compliance requirements
