Functional analyst

Job Description - Functional Analyst (Payroll Transformation) Location: Brussels, Belgium (2 days on-site / 3 days remote)

Context

We are supporting a payroll engine transformation project, requiring a Functional Analyst to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. The role focuses on translating technical files (XML, JSON, Swagger) into actionable business deliverables (pay slips, tax filings, SEPA transfers) and automating regulatory workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and document functional requirements from technical specifications (APIs, data schemas).
• Collaborate with developers to validate data formats and business rules.
• Propose solutions to streamline processes (e.g., automated exports, data validation).
• Ensure compliance of deliverables with legal and internal requirements.
• Test and validate outputs before deployment.
  
  

Profile

Experience:

• 5-6 years in functional analysis, data transformation, or business-IT alignment.
• Experience in regulated environments (payroll, HR, finance) is a strong plus.

Technical Skills:

• Mandatory: XML, JSON, Swagger.
• Nice to have: .NET (C#), Python, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with UML/BPMN, Postman, or SoapUI is a bonus.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication to translate technical jargon into business needs (and vice versa).
• Autonomy and adaptability in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Languages:

• Fluent in French and Dutch (written/spoken) required.
