What can you expect?
As a Functional Safety Consultant, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of complex systems within the automotive and technology industries, guiding clients through functional safety activities from concept to production.
- Lead and manage functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262 and other applicable safety standards, such as IEC 61508.
- Independently conduct and review safety analyses, including HARA, FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA.
- Develop and maintain functional and technical safety concepts, safety requirements, and safety cases throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and implement functional safety plans, verification strategies, and safety-related development processes.
- Support the integration of safety requirements into system, hardware, and software development, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Act as a key technical contact for clients, leading safety-related discussions, workshops, and technical reviews.
- Identify potential safety risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure the quality and completeness of safety deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project managers to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and consultants.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives through INVENSITY's Academy and technical communities.
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5–7 years of professional experience in functional safety engineering, preferably within the automotive industry or other safety-critical environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of ISO 26262, including its application across the product development lifecycle.
- Proven hands-on experience conducting safety analyses such as HARA, FMEA, FTA, and/or FMEDA.
- Experience developing functional and technical safety concepts, safety requirements, and safety documentation.
- Solid understanding of systems engineering processes, the V-model, and hardware/software development lifecycles.
- Experience working with safety-related development tools and requirements management systems such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent solutions.
- Familiarity with IEC 61508 or other industry-specific functional safety standards is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage functional safety work packages and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a structured and quality-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging directly with clients and technical stakeholders.
- Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring junior engineers is an advantage.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
