Position
Fund Accounting & Data Analyst (Contract)
Eleven Systems is looking for a private-fund accounting expert to join our engineering team. You will turn fund accounting rules into clear specifications and test cases that the engineers build against. This role does not write production code.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
· Review and verify the platform’s fund calculations, including invested capital, DPI, TVPI, IRR, management fees, and fee tiers
· Write a clear specification for each calculation, covering inputs, sign conventions, effective vs. GL dates, and edge cases
· Build “golden” test datasets with known answers, and keep them current as rules change
· Run user acceptance testing in staging before each release
· Answer the engineering team’s fund accounting questions day to day, and take open questions to the business owner
· Maintain the domain glossary that engineers and AI coding tools work from
· Help design a unified Legal Entity Master schema, and review entity data extracted by AI from formation documents
· Ensure that all work is done in a manner that supports corporate goals of security, availability, and privacy
Qualifications
· 5+ years of private-markets fund accounting or fund administration (private equity, venture capital, private credit, or fund of funds)
· Hands-on experience with capital calls, distributions, recallable capital, NAV, and the general ledger
· Ability to calculate and reconcile DPI, TVPI, RVPI and IRR (XIRR) from raw cash flows
· Strong grasp of management fee mechanics: commitment vs. invested capital bases, step-downs, tiers and offsets
· Working knowledge of US GAAP, ideally investment company reporting (ASC 946)
· Familiarity with fund and entity structures: LPs, LLCs, general partner and management company entities, SPVs, feeders and blockers
· Strong SQL skills, including joins, window functions, and reconciliation queries you write yourself
· Fluent written and spoken English, and the ability to write clear, precise specifications
· Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
· Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Preferred
· CPA, ACCA or CFA
· Experience at a family office, fund administrator, or private equity firm
· Experience with fund administration or portfolio reporting software
· Data modeling or reporting tools such as Power BI
· Document extraction or data mapping projects
· Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Azure SQL
