Role Description<

The Fundraising Lead is a contract role based in Lagos, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows for both on-site collaboration and some work from home. This role is responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies to support WiCool’s growth and mission, including identifying and engaging impact investors, development finance institutions, grant-makers, and strategic partners. Day-to-day activities include researching funding opportunities, preparing pitches, investment decks, and grant applications, coordinating investor meetings, managing due diligence processes, and maintaining a structured pipeline of prospects. The Fundraising Lead will collaborate closely with the leadership team to refine the company’s investment narrative, build financial models with the finance team, and ensure timely reporting to funders. The role also involves tracking fundraising performance metrics, recommending improvements, and representing WiCool at relevant ecosystem events and stakeholder engagements.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fundraising, investment relations, or business development, preferably within climate, infrastructure, energy, logistics, or impact-focused ventures.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis, basic financial modeling, and understanding of investment instruments (equity, debt, grants, blended finance).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling pitches, proposals, and investor-facing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and map relevant funders, build relationships, and manage a structured pipeline of prospects.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid setup in Lagos, collaborating across teams and engaging with external stakeholders in person and virtually.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, development studies, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in impact investing or development finance are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of African markets and experience working with social enterprises, climate-tech, or infrastructure-focused organizations is highly beneficial.
