Show job description

Do you know family-based immigration inside out: K-1, CR-1, adjustment of status and consular processing?

  1. Can you step up to the plate when a case involves criminal history, a prior marriage, a waiver or a misrepresentation finding?

  2. Can you explain a legal determination so that a non-lawyer understands it on the first read?

  3. Do you enjoy building guardrails, reviewing scripts, templates and processes so a whole company stays on the right side of the law?

  4. Do you want an independent, remote role where your professional judgment is respected and you manage your own work?

  5. If you are a licensed immigration attorney who combines sharp legal analysis with practical, business-minded advice, we want to hear from you.

About the Role:

  1. You are the one person at our company who makes legal determinations. Our teams prepare documents and support clients, but they do not give legal advice.

  2. You review complex visa cases routed to you by our service teams, decide eligibility questions for our sales team, and keep our processes, scripts and client-facing tools compliant.

  3. You advise clients directly on legal questions in their filings, and your advice is your own independent professional judgment.

  4. You work with the CEO on the company's legal standards and compliance, and you set your own priorities and reviews.

About Our Company

We have more than 100 full-time remote team members. Here are our cultural work values. Read these carefully to see if you are aligned with us:

  1. We urgently do everything in our power to achieve excellent results, day and night.

  2. We are eager to learn and improve.

  3. We embrace TLI practices with an open mind.

  4. We are open and honest with each other and the company.

  5. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together in TLI.

  6. We exercise initiative - not impulsively, but by collaborating in planning, then we get approval before taking action.

  7. We embrace technology including AI responsibly, transparently, ethically.

  8. Show Me: we ask to see evidence and proof, rather than accepting things at face value.

  9. You can count on us to get it done right.

What You Will Do

  1. Case-Level Legal Review

    1. Review complex family-based cases involving criminal records, NOIDs, denials, waivers, marital-status issues, IMBRA and Adam Walsh Act flags, and consular refusals.

    2. Classify RFEs and advise on substantive responses, which our Petition Support team prepares.

    3. Advise on whether an appeal or motion should be filed and on its legal basis.

    4. Identify when a case needs outside counsel or Philippine counsel, and coordinate the referral.

  2. Eligibility Determinations for Sales

    1. Make eligibility determinations on edge cases before a client signs up, including income sufficiency, joint sponsors and asset options.

    2. Design the intake pre-screen questions our sales team asks, so complex cases are caught early.

    3. Approve a library of published-rule answers our sales team can quote word for word.

  3. Compliance Review

    1. Review scripts, templates, ads, AI-generated content and client-facing tools against unauthorized-practice-of-law rules before they go live.

    2. Review sales calls monthly and share written observations.

    3. Review service agreements and disclaimers, and approve customized agreements clients request.

    4. Advise on restricted states, new services and future market expansion.

  4. Training and Advisory

    1. Act as the final escalation point for any question that crosses into legal interpretation.

    2. Brief our service, sales and QA teams monthly on recurring issues and compliant responses.

    3. Attend executive meetings to advise on legal standards and compliance risks, and bring recommendations to the CEO in writing.

  5. How You Work

  1. You advise clients directly by call or written note, and your advice is your independent professional judgment.

  2. You do not sign or prepare forms, and matters needing formal representation go to outside counsel.

  3. You are self-managing: you schedule your own reviews and submit daily notes and weekly goals.

  4. You return routed files and sales escalations within one business day.

Qualifications

  1. Active license in good standing with the bar of any US state, with no public disciplinary history.

  2. 3-5+ years of experience in US immigration law, with a focus on family-based immigration and consular processing.

  3. Strong knowledge of inadmissibility grounds, waivers, and motions and appeals practice.

  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences.

  5. Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail.

  6. Ability to work independently and remotely across multiple time zones.

  7. Full alignment with the company's core cultural values.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in a high-volume immigration practice, legal services company or similar fast-paced environment.

  2. Familiarity with Philippine civil documents and Philippine family law as it relates to US immigration.

  3. Experience in compliance, risk management or advising non-law-firm businesses.

  4. Comfort using legal technology, case management systems and AI tools.

  5. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as operations, sales and customer support.
