Show job description

G MASS Consulting are partnered with a leading global financial services group, as they seek a Business Manager to join the COO office of their Capital Markets business in London.

This is a front-office aligned role, working directly with the Capital Markets COO and senior business heads, with a particular focus on the firm’s FX franchise and its corporate client business. The mandate combines day-to-day business management with leading complex, cross-functional commercial initiatives, including new business launches, capability buildouts and regulatory-driven change, across Sales, Trading, Operations, Technology and the Support & Control functions. The role’s primary focus is the firm’s MiFID-regulated FX business.

The client is particularly keen to hear from proven deliverers who have worked in, or closely alongside, non-bank corporate FX and risk management providers. They value insight into how these firms serve corporate clients, and especially how they approach credit, trading lines and collateral for clients who trade on an uncollateralised basis. The successful candidate will be senior enough to hold their own with key business stakeholders, while remaining hands-on, nimble and hungry to develop.

The role is offered as an initial 6 month contract, with a strong opportunity to convert to a permanent position subject to performance and fit.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Capital Markets COO and senior business heads in the day-to-day management and strategic development of the business, with a particular focus on FX and the corporate client franchise.
  • Lead and coordinate key commercial initiatives from concept through to delivery, including new business launches, product expansion, capability buildouts and regulatory-driven change.
  • Work with Risk and Credit on the framework for extending FX trading lines to corporate clients. This covers uncollateralised and partially collateralised lines, credit limit setting, margin and collateral call policies, and line utilisation monitoring.
  • Support the assessment of the corporate FX hedging product set, from Spot and Forwards through to Options and structured hedging solutions. This includes process mapping, control considerations and implementation readiness.
  • Partner with Risk and Credit on credit and market risk considerations, including counterparty credit, PFE and VaR, as part of new business and product initiatives.
  • Act as a central point of coordination across Front Office, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk and Finance, influencing the Support & Control functions to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Define project scope, operating models, milestones and delivery plans, ensuring clear ownership, governance and accountability across competing priorities and dependencies.
  • Track business priorities, strategic workstreams and change initiatives, escalating issues, risks and dependencies to senior management where required.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for senior management, governance forums and committees.
  • Coordinate responses to audits, regulatory reviews and internal governance actions, maintaining a strong control environment aligned with MiFID II expectations.
  • A strong, demonstrable track record of delivering large-scale, cross-functional business initiatives from concept through to implementation, gained in a COO, Business Management, Chief of Staff, Strategy / Execution or Programme Delivery role within financial services.
  • Experience gained in, or working closely with, a non-bank corporate FX or FX risk management provider serving corporate and institutional clients.
  • A clear understanding of how corporate FX credit is extended and managed. This covers uncollateralised trading lines, credit limit methodology, initial and variation margin approaches, and client onboarding and credit assessment.
  • Solid FX product and market knowledge, from FX Spot through to FX Options; exposure to structured hedging products is strongly advantageous.
  • Working understanding of credit risk (PFE) and market risk (VaR) metrics.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align and, where necessary, challenge stakeholders across Front Office and the Support & Control functions.
  • Understanding of key financial regulation, in particular MiFID II; awareness of the Payment Services Regulations is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of materials for senior management and governance forums, while remaining hands-on and eager to learn and develop.

Length: Initial 6 month contract, with a strong opportunity to convert to a permanent position subject to performance
