Turn your university experience into career experience

Want to build your CV, develop your marketing and communication skills, and help other students discover resources that can support their studies and research?

We’re looking for enthusiastic, creative and reliable students to join us as Gale Student Ambassadors.

This is a flexible, paid opportunity designed to fit around your studies. You'll become a student voice for Gale at your university, helping fellow students discover and make effective use of the Gale resources available to them.

Along the way, you'll gain practical experience in areas including marketing, social media, content creation, events and communication – all while working with a global education company.

What will you do?

As a Gale Student Ambassador, you'll help raise awareness of Gale resources across your university and encourage students to discover how they can support their studies and research.

Your activities could include:

  • Promoting Gale resources to students across your university
  • Planning and running events on campus, such as training sessions, presentations or promotional stands
  • Creating social media content about Gale resources and your Ambassador activities
  • Sharing information about Gale through relevant student groups and communities
  • Writing a blog post on an agreed topic using Gale resources as part of your research
  • Finding creative ways to increase awareness and engagement amongst students
  • Sharing your experiences and feedback with the Gale team
  • Attending training sessions and programme check-ins

You'll have freedom to bring your own ideas to the role and think about what will work best with students at your university.

You won't be expected to be a Gale expert from day one. We'll provide training and guidance to introduce you to our resources and help you plan and deliver your activities.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need extensive work experience. We're much more interested in your enthusiasm, creativity and ability to connect with other students.

You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD student in an arts, humanities or social sciences discipline
  • Study at a university with access to relevant Gale resources
  • Are a confident and friendly communicator
  • Enjoy meeting and engaging with other students
  • Are organised, reliable and comfortable managing your own time
  • Can work independently and meet agreed deadlines
  • Are interested in social media, content creation or marketing
  • Are comfortable presenting or running activities on campus

Experience with social media, blogging, video creation, presenting, student societies, events or other campus activities would be useful, but isn't essential.

What you'll get

As a Gale Student Ambassador, you'll gain practical experience that you can add to your CV and talk about in future interviews, including:

  • Working with a global education and information business
  • Marketing and social media experience
  • Content creation and blogging
  • Event planning and delivery
  • Presentation and communication skills
  • Improved digital research skills
  • Student engagement and relationship building
  • Experience independently planning and delivering activities

You'll also have the opportunity to bring your own ideas to the programme and help Gale better understand how students discover, engage with and use academic resources.

How does the programme work?

The programme is designed to fit around your studies. Rather than working fixed weekly hours, you'll complete a series of agreed activities throughout the programme and can organise much of the work around your own schedule.

Depending on your location and programme length, the expected commitment will be approximately 26 hours over a six-month programme or 37 hours over a nine-month/full programme.

You'll also attend three online training sessions and a programme check-in, giving you support and guidance throughout your time as an Ambassador.

Payment

This is a paid opportunity.

Depending on programme length and location, Ambassadors will receive:

£350 (or local equivalent) for the shorter/pro-rated programme, or
£500 (or local equivalent) for the full programme.

Payments will be made in stages during the programme, subject to completion of the agreed activities.
