Overview Physical Superintelligence is a stealth startup with roots at Google, NVIDIA, Harvard, Meta, MIT, Oxford, Johns Hopkins, Cambridge, and the Perimeter Institute building AI systems to discover new physics at scale. We are seeking engineers to build platform infrastructure at the intersection of computational science, AI systems, and software engineering. Our mission is to discover and commercialize transformative physics breakthroughs at scale with artificial superintelligence, safely, verifiably, and for broad public benefit. The last century's golden age of physics gave us transistors, lasers, and nuclear energy. We believe artificial superintelligence will unlock the next one. We're creating the infrastructure to industrialize scientific discovery and usher in this new era. We have one product: new physics, at scale. Role and Responsibilities Use this general application if you do not see a specific role that fits your profile but want to be considered as PSI grows. Tell us how your background and ambitions intersect with our mission. Be specific about where you would have the most impact: research direction, engineering surface, customer engagement, or product. Vague applications get vague responses. If you have a portfolio, prior publications, open-source contributions, or shipped systems we can look at, include them. We weight evidence over credentials. We review general applications on a rolling basis and respond when we identify a strong fit, which may not be immediate. What We're Looking For A track record of shipping substantive work in your field, whether that is physics research, AI systems, engineering platforms, customer-facing products, or commercial deals. Comfort working at the intersection of physics, AI, and software engineering, even if your primary expertise is in one of these areas. Curiosity, intellectual honesty, and a bias toward action. You ship; you do not stall on consensus or process. Excited by the possibility that AI could fundamentally transform how physics is done, and committed to PSI's mission of advancing scientific discovery for broad public benefit. Nice to Have Background in one of our open job areas (AI Research, Physics Research, Distributed Systems, Infrastructure, Security, or Forward Deployed Engineering). Publications, open-source contributions, or shipped systems that the community has adopted. Prior experience at a fast-growing deep-tech, AI, or research-focused organization. Domain expertise in data centers, energy, fusion, batteries, hydrogen, carbon capture, or comparable physics-bearing verticals. How We Work We are engineering-led. Engineers own problems end-to-end, from spec to ship to on-call. We write contracts before logic, test against real systems instead of mocks, and favor simple designs that ship over clever ones that do not. Our development process is AI-native: engineers work with agentic coding tools daily, write specs that are legible to humans and agents alike, and lead with leverage. Location and Compensation This role is based in Boston. We will consider remote candidates on a case-by-case basis.
