Intelligence Security Laboratories is a philanthropically funded non-profit research lab focused on implementation-driven R&D for high-security AI systems. Our work bridges the gap between theoretical security requirements and practical deployments, and in character it is closer to avionics or reactor control than to enterprise software. We are around ten people and scaling quickly. Alongside the roles currently posted, we expect to hire across:

• Project and program management, including overseeing contractors delivering technical work

• Operations and organizational support

• Engineering and technical roles

What we look for. Depth in your own field matters more than familiarity with ours. We are particularly interested in people from backgrounds where designing systems that fail safely is already the everyday discipline, such as aviation, nuclear, rail, or industrial control. We care that people are genuinely motivated by the problem: the work is unusual, the standard is no-fail rather than best effort, and the organization is early enough that people shape how it is done.

Compensation and benefits. Because this is a general application rather than a specific role, the range below covers every position we expect to hire across, from intern through to senior technical specialist. Across all roles, that range is $80,000 to $500,000.

Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus unlimited PTO. In addition to base salary, roles are eligible for an annual performance bonus and, for DC-resident staff, a DC living incentive. Relocation support of up to $10,000 may be available depending on circumstances.
