General Counsel

Role Description The General Counsel at Dak'art home is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the company’s legal affairs and providing strategic guidance on risk management. Day-to-day tasks include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and commercial agreements, advising leadership on regulatory compliance and corporate policies, and identifying and mitigating legal risks across the business. The General Counsel will monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, support labor and employment matters, and ensure data privacy and information security practices align with applicable laws. This role collaborates closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, manages relationships with external counsel when needed, and develops clear, practical legal guidance and documentation for the organization.
Qualifications

• Ability to manage a broad range of legal issues and provide practical legal advice across business operations.
• Experience with labor and employment law, including policies, compliance, and dispute resolution.
• Knowledge of data privacy and information security regulations, and experience implementing compliance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance, including board processes, company policies, and ethical standards.
• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and active license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Several years of experience as in-house counsel or in a law firm advising corporate clients, preferably in a remote or distributed environment.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize multiple matters, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
