German Conversation Partner (Remote)

TalkAbroad is looking for German speakers to have friendly, one-on-one video conversations with university students in the United States and Canada who are learning German.

This is not a teaching position. You won't need to prepare lessons or teach grammar. Instead, you'll have relaxed, meaningful conversations that help students build confidence speaking German while learning about your language and culture.

What you'll do

• Participate in one-on-one video conversations with university students learning German.
• Have friendly conversations based on topics provided to students in advance.
• Create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable speaking German.
• Share your culture, everyday experiences, interests, and perspectives.
• Encourage students as they develop their German conversation skills.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is a fluent German speaker.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enjoys talking with people and connecting with people from different cultures.
• Is patient, friendly, and encouraging when speaking with language learners.
• Has a reliable internet connection and a quiet space for video calls.
• Is comfortable using online video conferencing platforms.
• Is dependable and professional.
• Can commit to providing at least 10 hours of availability per week, including some weekend availability.
