Working in a lean, fast-moving team with minimal bureaucracy, you will bridge market trends, formulation, regulatory compliance, and commercial execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Research & Development (:70%)
- Trend & Market Analysis: Monitor consumer and competitor trends across DACH, UK, and FR markets, quickly validating new product concepts through sampling, small test batches, or landing page tests.
- End-to-End NPD: Own the entire development roadmap from initial idea and formulation to sampling, packaging design, first production order, and market launch.
- Supplier & Laboratory Steering: Brief and collaborate closely with laboratories, contract manufacturers (CMOs), and raw material/packaging partners.
- Regulatory Compliance: Integrate compliance from day one—managing ingredient safety, INCI lists, product information files (CPNP/PIF), safety assessments, and marketing claims to prevent bottlenecks.
- Product Optimization: Continuously optimize existing products across formulations, packaging, cost structures, and compliance standards.
- Reorder & Inventory Management: Plan and place reorders for established products, ensuring a balanced stock level to prevent both out-of-stock scenarios and overstocking.
- Commercial & Supplier Negotiations: Drive pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and contractual terms with manufacturing partners.
- Strategic Sourcing: Build and expand a robust backup supplier network to safeguard supply chain resilience and independence.
- AI Integration: Leverage and build cutting-edge AI workflows (using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity) to accelerate supplier communication, brief generation, and reporting processes.
Must-Haves:
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in product development and 4+ years in the procurement of physical consumer goods (ideally within cosmetics, personal care, skincare, or dietary supplements/consumer health).
- Track Record: Proven delivery of multiple products independently from concept to market launch, with demonstrable ownership of COGS, margins, MOQs, and launch timelines.
- Commercial Mindset: Strong numerical affinity; ability to work backwards from a target selling price and margin to calculate acceptable COGS and manufacturing expenses.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid foundation in regulatory requirements for consumer goods (cosmetics CPNP/PIF or supplement/NEM compliance).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office / Google Sheets, familiarity with ERP systems, and routine usage of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.).
- Language Skills: Native or C2-level German proficiency and professional, business-fluent (B2+) English skills.
- Location: Must be based in or around the Berlin area for regular hybrid collaboration.
- Existing professional network within the cosmetics or supplement manufacturing and laboratory sector.
- Experience scaling international product launches (EU, UK, FR).
- Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Notion, Monday) and supply chain automations.
- Hybrid Setup: Flexible blend of remote work and local collaboration in the Berlin area (featuring up to 30 EU Work-&-Travel days per year).
- Culture: A high-ownership, transparent environment rooted in our core values: Extreme Ownership, Clarity First, Curiosity Ignites Growth, Every Touchpoint Counts, and Enjoy the Ride.
- Team Dynamics: A tight-knit, collaborative team with short decision-making channels where individual contribution directly shapes brand success.
- Competitive Remuneration: Base salary ranging from €50,000 to €70,000 gross per annum.
- Comprehensive Benefits: 100% employer contribution to company pension schemes (bAV), subsidized wellness/fitness passes, staff discounts, and an annual individual professional development budget.
- Workplace Flexibility: Flexible working hours, reduction options, regular team offsites, and modern hybrid flexibility.
- Innovation & Tech: Active encouragement to deploy and expand AI-driven workflows across product development and procurement pipelines.
