Role Context and Core Qualifications

  • Olivia introduced the Associate Director position (Fieldglass requisition 17362) to support the U.S. launch of a multiple myeloma CAR-T product (Anita-cel) scheduled for late December.
  • Sourcing requires an immediate start date to ensure the contractor is fully trained before the launch.
    • The approved assignment end date is May 3, 2027.
    • John noted flexibility to extend the contract by a year if an extended duration helps attract stronger candidates.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct medical information experience within a pharmaceutical company.
    • Lauren stated that candidates whose backgrounds are limited to vendor-side roles, pharmacovigilance/safety, or purely general medical affairs without medical information will not be considered.
    • John emphasized that relevant hands-on medical information experience takes priority over specific degrees; advanced degrees such as an MD, PhD, or PharmD are flexible.
    • Therapy experience in hematology or CAR-T is a strong preference, but remains a secondary nice-to-have compared to core medical information expertise.
  • There is no upper limit on seniority.
    • John and Olivia confirmed that overqualified or more tenured candidates are welcome, and bill rates can be adjusted upward if standard rates do not attract the required caliber of talent.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • The position is a senior individual contributor role without line management or project oversight duties.
  • Core daily duties center on reactive handling of escalated, unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals and patients routed through the call center.
    • Currently, approximately 30% of total inquiries result in escalations, with higher inquiry volumes expected following the December launch.
    • For the first 5 to 6 months, the contractor will primarily focus on crafting custom response documents and standard responses to resolve these escalations against defined key performance indicators.
    • Broader responsibilities, such as generating strategic medical insights, will remain secondary and evaluated based on team capacity.
  • The contractor will conduct peer reviews of internal medical information documents for scientific and regulatory accuracy.
    • John clarified that the team does not participate in promotional review committees (PRC) or medical review committees (MRC) for commercial medical affairs content.

Systems, Tools, and Work Arrangement

  • The team currently operates on a proprietary Salesforce platform integrated with Veeva MedDocs for content management.
    • The legacy platform is scheduled to transition to a new platform in Q2 of next year.
    • The team is adopting an AI-driven tool called Avail Med Pro to assist with authoring standard and custom response documents; incoming candidates must be comfortable adopting AI technology.
  • The job description lists Raleigh, Foster City, Santa Monica, and Parsippany as eligible hybrid hub locations, with a geographic preference for the West Coast.
    • Physical office attachment is required strictly to satisfy IT compliance protocols for issuing a company laptop and granting system access.
