Responsibilities:
Analyze existing geographic data structures in the legacy GIS, including object catalogs, attributes, and relationships.
Develop a robust and repeatable data migration setup using Python and SQL.
Automate the migration of GIS objects and their metadata from the legacy system to the new GIS platform.
Perform the migration of geographic data into the new GIS system, e.g. ArcGIS Pro.
Ensure data integrity, completeness, and consistency throughout the migration process.
Identify and analyze inconsistencies, missing data, and data quality issues after migration.
Develop and implement data quality improvement measures, including data cleansing and corrections.
Prepare reports on migration quality, progress, and identified issues.
Document migration processes, scripts, workflows, and procedures.
Coordinate with relevant business/functional departments to validate the migration results.
Continuously optimize the migration process based on test results and stakeholder feedback.
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL, particularly for developing migration scripts and database queries.
Experience with databases, including a good understanding of database structures and data models.
Practical experience with data migration and data transformation, preferably involving geographic/spatial data.
Experience working with GIS systems.
Analytical and structured way of working.
Strong affinity for digitalization and process optimization.
Good programming skills in Python and SQL.
Advantages:
Experience with ArcGIS Pro.
Experience with other comparable GIS platforms.
Previous experience specifically with geospatial data migration.
Experience with data quality management, data cleansing, and validation.
Experience documenting and optimizing automated migration workflows.
