GL Accountant

About the role

As our GL Accountant, you will be an important part of our Finance team, responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable general ledger records and supporting our monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

Based in Krakow, you will work closely with our Finance Manager, Country Managers, and colleagues across the business. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our financial data, identifying potential risks, and continuously improving our finance processes.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has a strong eye for detail, and takes ownership of delivering accurate and timely financial information.

What you will do

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Record financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and company procedures.

• Review and post journal entries accurately and on time.

• Process customer payments and ensure they are correctly allocated to the appropriate accounts.

• Prepare and post month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing entries.

• Perform detailed monthly account reconciliations and ensure balances are supported by appropriate documentation.

• Participate in monthly closing meetings with Country Managers and prepare the required documentation.

• Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.

• Prepare and maintain process documentation and continuously improve existing finance processes.

• Identify potential financial or process risks, raise them with the Finance Manager, and contribute to solutions.

• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and finance-related projects as required.

• Collaborate with colleagues across Finance and other parts of the business to improve processes and operational efficiency.

• Support onboarding and training of new team members and act as a backup where needed.

What we are looking for

Must-haves

• 3–4 years of experience in General Ledger or General Accounting.

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

• Experience working with an accounting or ERP system. Experience with Xledger is an advantage, but full training will be provided.

• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential risks and propose solutions.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines, particularly around month-end closing.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• A collaborative and proactive approach to working with colleagues across the organisation.

• Minimum B2 level of English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience working in an international or multi-country organisation.

• Experience with audit preparation and financial reporting.

• Experience with process improvement and documentation.

• Previous experience with Xledger or similar cloud-based accounting systems.
