Summary:
The Global Director owns the Enterprise Laboratory Instrument Services (ELIS) program end to end across North America and Europe. The role is accountable for one operating model across both regions, contractual performance at program level, and the senior client relationship above site and regional level.
The program covers roughly 35,000 assets across twenty sites in five countries, on four systems of record, under two entirely different workforce transfer regimes. North America has no automatic transfer and every seat is a posted requisition. Belgium and the Netherlands transfer automatically under the Acquired Rights Directive, and Switzerland is terminate and rehire. The role has to hold one service standard across all of that rather than allowing a regional variant to form.
What you will do:
Program ownership:
• Own one operating model across both regions, including intake, entitlement, dispatch, verification and payment, so a site does not run a local variant because of its size or history.
• Own program-level contractual performance against the master service agreement and every executed addendum.
• Hold the program governance rhythm, including steering meetings, checkpoint reviews and executive reporting to the client.
• Own the transition plan through to go-live and the stabilisation period after it.
• Own the global data standard so a single reporting position exists across four systems of record.
Regional leadership:
• Lead both Regional Directors of Operations and hold them to one set of standards rather than two.
• Arbitrate where a regional constraint conflicts with the global model, and decide rather than allowing the difference to persist unresolved.
• Own the global workforce position across both transfer regimes, partnering with Human Resources on automatic transfer obligations in Europe and on the posted requisition process in North America.
• Own succession and bench depth for regional and site leadership across both regions.
• Own retention for the program, with named plans for critical and hard-to-replace individuals, including sole coverage at small sites.
Commercial ownership:
• Own the program-level change order and material scope change position, including any change that crosses both regions.
• Own program profit and loss, including forecast accuracy at global level.
• Own the commercial position on entitlement strategy jointly with the Global Director, Sourcing and Payments, so a sourcing decision and a delivery consequence are never separated.
• Approve deferment and coverage decisions that carry compliance or contractual consequence at program level.
• Grow the program through scope expansion, third-party conversion and additional site onboarding.
Client relationship:
• Hold the senior client relationship above site and regional level, and present at executive reviews.
• Partner with client executive stakeholders to align the Renovo asset management strategy with their priority business goals.
• Present current state of service delivery, key performance indicator performance and forward goals at program governance and quarterly business reviews.
Vendor management and safety:
• Escort is a standing expectation of every role on this program, not a task assigned to a subset of the team. Anyone in this role escorts and hosts OEM and third-party engineers where the assignment requires it.
• Maintain a safe working environment for self and others when visiting client sites.
• Complete required safety and compliance training on time.
Qualifications:
• Fifteen years or more in laboratory, scientific or medical equipment service, with significant experience leading multi-country operations.
• Proven accountability for a global or multi-region managed service program at contract level.
• Experience operating across more than one workforce transfer regime, including automatic transfer jurisdictions.
• Experience holding a commercial position at contract level, including change orders and scope change.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or research environment required.
• Experience of a large service transition or contract mobilisation required.
Education/Special Training:
• Bachelor's degree required, in a scientific, technical or business discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
• Training in laboratory safety, GxP and data integrity provided or required.
• Platform and CMMS training provided after hire.
• Training on any site-specific system of record used across the program provided after hire.
Required Competencies:
• One Program, Two Regions - holds a single standard across regions with different laws, systems and histories.
• Decision Making - arbitrates regional conflict and closes it rather than letting it persist.
• Commercial Ownership - holds the change order position at program level.
• Executive Presence - credible with client executive leadership and gives straight answers.
• Talent Building - develops regional leadership and builds succession depth.
• Priority Setting - directs effort across regions where it counts.
• Sense of Urgency - possesses and displays a sense of urgency to internal and external customers.
• Integrity - can admit mistakes, is direct and truthful, and acts in the best interest of clients, employees and Renovo.
• Escort Readiness - treats escort as part of the job at every level, and does not decline it.
Success Measures:
• Program-level contractual key performance indicator attainment across both regions
• Program profit and loss performance to plan, including forecast accuracy
• One operating model adopted at every site, measured on process conformance rather than intent
• Global data standard adoption across all systems of record
• Retention of regional and site leadership, and bench depth behind both
• Transition delivered to go-live without a lapse in service coverage
• Client executive satisfaction at program level
• Program growth through scope expansion and third-party conversion
Safety Requirements:
• Abide by and follow Renovo safety policies, procedures, and injury and illness prevention expectations.
• Maintain a safe working environment for self and others when visiting customer sites, laboratories, offices, or operational environments.
• Follow applicable customer site safety requirements, OSHA guidelines, and laboratory or facility-specific procedures as required.
• Complete required safety training assignments on time.
Physical Requirements:
• Predominantly remote, office-based work.
• When on client sites, presence in active laboratory environments including areas with biological, chemical, electrical and cryogenic hazards.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment when on site.
• Travel approximately 30 to 50 percent, across both regions.
