  • Australia: AS/NZS 5139 and applicable state fire authority guidelines.

Project Permitting & AHJ Engagement

  • Prepare or review Hazard Mitigation Analyses (HMAs), explosion-control designs (NFPA 68/69), emergency response plans, and fire safety-related permitting documentation.
  • Lead technical discussions with AHJs, fire marshals, fire departments, and other regulatory stakeholders to support project permitting and approvals.
  • Address complex technical questions and develop solutions to fire safety-related permitting challenges.

Product Engineering & Safety Integration

  • Translate global fire codes, standards, and regulatory requirements into actionable product design and engineering requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and R&D teams on fire detection, deflagration venting, fire suppression, equipment spacing, and enclosure design.
  • Review product designs to support compliance and readiness for international market introduction.

Fire Safety Testing & Technical Validation

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee UL 9540A, CSA C800, and other applicable large-scale fire testing programs with third-party laboratories.
  • Review and interpret test results to support product development, regulatory approvals, and customer requirements.
  • Present and explain testing results and safety assessments to AHJs, insurers, and customers.

Customer & Commercial Support

  • Review fire safety requirements in customer specifications, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and project contracts.
  • Develop technical compliance responses, identify deviations, and support bid preparation.
  • Participate in customer technical meetings and provide expert guidance on BESS fire safety and regulatory compliance.

Training & Industry Leadership

  • Develop and deliver BESS fire safety and emergency response training for local fire departments, first responders, and site operators.
  • Represent HyperStrong at major industry events, including RE+, ees Europe, and All-Energy Australia.
  • Contribute to technical white papers and industry discussions related to BESS fire safety.
  • Stay engaged with developments from industry standards organizations, including NFPA, UL, CSA, and IEC.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing HMAs or fire protection reports and successfully obtaining AHJ approvals for BESS projects.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI-powered tools, including generative AI, for technical research, documentation, code and standards analysis, and test data evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers, regulatory authorities, and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30–40% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications
