Designer Group is seeking an experienced Global Mobility Tax Lead to support our growing international workforce and expanding project portfolio across multiple jurisdictions.

As our business continues to mobilise employees internationally, this role will take ownership of the tax and compliance implications associated with employees working across borders.

This is a specialist role focused on international employee taxation, global mobility tax, cross-border payroll and assignment compliance.

You do not need to come from an M&E or construction background. We are interested in candidates from engineering, construction, infrastructure, professional services, consulting, Big Four or multinational organisations who have experience supporting internationally mobile employees across multiple jurisdictions.

Working closely with Finance, Payroll, People, Talent Acquisition and Global Mobility teams, you will provide practical guidance that enables Designer Group to mobilise employees efficiently while remaining compliant with local tax and social security requirements.

What You'll Do

You will lead and coordinate global mobility tax matters across Designer Group's international operations, including:

  • Advise on the tax implications of employees working temporarily or permanently across international jurisdictions.
  • Assess individual tax residency and employee tax exposure arising from international assignments and project mobilisation.
  • Coordinate overseas employee tax registrations, filings and annual personal tax return requirements.
  • Manage and support shadow payroll, host-country payroll and cross-border payroll requirements.
  • Advise on home and host-country income tax obligations.
  • Support the application of double taxation agreements and 183-day rules.
  • Advise on social security obligations, including A1 certificates and applicable bilateral or international social security arrangements.
  • Support compliance with posted worker and cross-border employment requirements from a tax perspective.
  • Support tax equalisation and tax protection arrangements where applicable.
  • Work with Payroll to ensure the correct tax treatment of international employees.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support employees through overseas tax registration and annual tax return processes.
  • Identify potential tax and compliance risks arising from employee mobilisation.
  • Provide tax guidance during mobilisation into new countries and project locations.
  • Develop scalable global mobility tax processes, controls and governance.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reporting across internationally mobile employee populations.
  • Monitor changes in international employee tax and social security legislation.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to senior stakeholders, operational teams and internationally mobile employees.

We are looking for an experienced global mobility or international employee tax professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to operate in a fast-moving international environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A recognised tax or accounting qualification such as CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Experience within professional services, engineering, construction, infrastructure, consulting or another internationally operating business would also be beneficial.
  • Significant experience in global mobility tax, expatriate tax, international employee tax or employment tax.
  • Experience supporting employees working across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of individual tax residency and cross-border income tax requirements.
  • Experience with overseas employee tax registrations and personal tax returns.
  • Practical knowledge of shadow payroll and international payroll requirements.
  • Understanding of double taxation agreements and 183-day rules.
  • Knowledge of international social security requirements and A1 certification.
  • Experience working with external tax advisers in multiple countries.
  • Strong understanding of the tax implications of short-term assignments, long-term assignments and international project deployments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to translate complex tax requirements into clear, practical advice.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple jurisdictions and employee cases simultaneously.

Designer Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services across major projects in data centres, building services, energy and industrial sectors.

Our international growth means our people increasingly work across borders, creating a diverse and technically interesting global mobility environment.

Joining Designer Group as Global Mobility Tax Lead offers:

  • A genuinely international remit across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Direct involvement in major international projects and workforce mobilisation.
  • Exposure to complex employee tax, payroll and social security matters.
  • Close collaboration with Finance, Payroll, People, Talent Acquisition and operational leadership.
  • The opportunity to help shape and strengthen Designer Group's global mobility tax framework.
  • Significant scope to build scalable processes as the Group continues to expand internationally.
  • A role with real operational impact rather than a purely advisory remit.

Interested?

If you are an experienced global mobility or international employee tax professional looking for a broader international remit and the opportunity to help shape how a growing global business mobilises its people, we would like to hear from you.

Apply today and help support Designer Group's continued international growth.
