About NUSU

We are Newcastle University Students' Union (NUSU) – an innovative, and student-led organisation dedicated to making the university experience unforgettable. As a charity, we are committed to enriching student life through exciting opportunities, wellbeing support, and championing the student voice. Working closely with Newcastle University, we’re right at the heart of campus, offering a dynamic space that includes a live music venue, bar, supermarket, merchandise shop, food outlets, study spaces, and more.

Summary Of The Role

Good governance helps us make sound decisions, manage risk and keep our focus on what matters to students. As our Governance, Compliance, and Risk Manager, you’ll help NUSU put this into practice across a varied, student-led charity.

Working closely with the CEO, trustees and colleagues across NUSU, you’ll develop clear, practical ways of working that support effective governance and compliance. Your remit will span Board and committee support, risk management, policies and complaints, helping colleagues understand their responsibilities and turn requirements into everyday practice.

You’ll also support the CEO to develop how we measure and demonstrate our impact, bringing together meaningful information and KPIs to show the difference NUSU makes and inform future decisions. Alongside this, you’ll manage and support the development of our Governance Administrator.

This is a role with scope to improve how an organisation works. You’ll build relationships across our services and with the University, combining attention to detail with the judgement to navigate complex issues and make clear recommendations.

For full details of the role, responsibilities and person specification, please see the full job description which is available on our website's vacancies page here.

✓ Employer pension contribution (4%)

✓ Mental health and wellbeing support

✓ Exclusive student and staff discounts
