Governance Coordinator Position: Governance Coordinator Reports To: Director, Public Interest and Corporate Secretary Contract Type: Indefinite, Full Time The Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) is seeking a highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented individual for the position of Governance Coordinator. Job Summary Reporting to the Director, Public Interest and Corporate Secretary, the Governance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administrative processes for the CPABC Board and its committees. This includes coordinating meetings, meeting preparation and follow-up, and administrative matters to ensure the Board and committees run smoothly. The ideal candidate will join a collaborative team supporting the Board, Committees, and the Executive Office and will bring exceptional administrative skills, strong technology proficiency, sound judgment, and an understanding of effective board governance practices. Key Responsibilities: Board & Governance Administration · Meeting Operations: Organize and support all Board of Directors and committee meetings; assist in compiling, formatting, and preparing meeting agendas and materials, including datasheets, for executive approval. · Minutes & Records: Attend meetings to write minutes and reports; maintain accurate records of board terms, committee lists, and schedules. · Elections & Compliance: Assist with coordinating the annual election of directors in compliance with established bylaws. · Document Management: Organize and maintain the Board portal for optimal efficiency and maintain secure document libraries. · Policy Governance: Assist in updating and maintaining the Board Governance Manual. Administration & Operations · Compliance Coordination : Facilitate required training, onboarding, and ongoing compliance matters for Board directors and committee members. · Board Evaluations : Administer board evaluation processes · Administrative Support : Provide administrative support to directors and committees as needed, including the administration of board expense claims. And other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time. Key Requirements: Knowledge and Experience · Three (3) plus years experience in Corporate Governance, Legal Compliance, or related roles. · Experience in supporting Board governance, including preparation of meeting materials, identifying and tracking action items, and managing timelines. · Experience in project coordination and taking meeting minutes. Demonstrated Skills and Abilities · Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written; · Sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential & sensitive information; · Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision; · A high degree of tact, diplomacy and professionalism; · Process oriented with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills; · Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. · Meticulous attention to detail, refined organizational and time management skills. · Proven ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlines under pressure. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities · Post-secondary qualification in a related field would be an asset; · Proficiency with BoardVantage or a similar board management portal is preferred. The starting annual salary for this position is between $61,600 and $77,000 per annum, based on candidates’ qualifications, experience, and internal parity.
