Stratasys is a world leader in 3D printing!

Location: 4 days On-site and 1 day remote, based in Minnetonka MN

The Government Contracts Specialist supports the Company’s U.S. government and defense business as a member of the Legal team. The role provides practical contract, proposal, intake, records, and compliance support for U.S. government, Department of Defense, prime contractor, subcontractor, reseller, and channel partner matters. The position is expected to understand and work with key government contracting and defense compliance concepts, including FAR, DFARS, SAM, CAGE, DD Form 2345/JCP, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, CUI, ITAR/EAR, data rights, quality certifications, and supply chain traceability. The Specialist will help the business obtain accurate, timely answers, maintain approved information, track open issues, and coordinate with Legal, Sales, Certs & Reps, IT/Security, Trade Compliance, Quality, Procurement, Finance, and Operations. This role partners with the legal team, the Export Compliance function, Certs & Reps, IT/Security, Quality, and other business owners. It is intended to create a knowledgeable Legal support point for Government and Defense matters while reducing unsupported certifications, inaccurate customer-facing statements, unmanaged flow-downs, and avoidable government contracting risk.

What you will be doing:

Government and Defense Contract and Proposal Support

  • Support the Legal review and administration of U.S. government and defense contracts, subcontracts, modifications, task orders, NDAs, teaming agreements, quote terms, proposal materials, customer terms, prime contractor flow-downs, and related records.
  • Review incoming requests to identify FAR, DFARS, data rights, cybersecurity, export control, quality, sourcing, certification, set-aside, reseller, and channel partner issues.
  • Coordinate with the assigned attorney and business owners to prepare approved responses, track open legal issues, and escalate terms or customer requests that create legal, compliance, operational, cybersecurity, export control, or certification risk.
  • The Specialist may support drafting and negotiation, but will not independently take legal positions or approve non-standard government contracting obligations without attorney review.

Government Readiness, Registrations, Certifications, and Certs & Reps Support

  • Maintain working knowledge of the Company’s approved Government and Defense readiness information, including SAM registration, CAGE code, NAICS codes, DD Form 2345/JCP certification, CMMC Level 2 readiness, NIST SP 800-171 and CUI information, ITAR/EAR program information, FAR/DFARS materials, data rights positions, quality certifications, and other information, as applicable.
  • Help maintain the status and ownership matrix for items that are already in place, in progress, or opportunity-specific. Support Certs & Reps by helping confirm approved information, routing questions to the correct owner, and identifying requests that require Legal, IT/Security, Trade Compliance, Quality, Finance, Operations, or Procurement review.
  • This role will not own company credentials or take over login responsibility for SAM.gov, DDTC/ITAR registration, JCP certification, cybersecurity portals, or other official registration systems unless expressly approved by Legal leadership and the relevant functional owner.

Cross-Functional Coordination, Records, and Risk Escalation

  • Serve as the Legal coordination point for Government and Defense intake issues, recurring customer questions, compliance information, and status tracking that require Legal involvement or cross-functional alignment.
  • Maintain approved response guidance, issue trackers, escalation paths, renewal calendars, approval records, and records of customer-facing representations.
  • Help improve the process so Sales, Government Business, and Certs & Reps can obtain timely answers without bypassing Legal or creating unsupported commitments.
  • Follow up with accountable owners and escalate gaps, overdue items, inconsistent answers, unvalidated readiness claims, cybersecurity assurances, export control statements, quality commitments, classified contracting questions, or other higher-risk requests to the assigned attorney and Legal leadership.
