Build Your Future at DTCC As a Government Relations Intern on the Government Relations team, you will support the department’s work with internal business lines, lawmakers, regulators, and trade associations on legislative and regulatory policy issues affecting DTCC and the financial services industry. You will gain practical exposure to policy research, legislative analysis, stakeholder engagement, written communications, and DTCC Political Action Committee (PAC) activities. At DTCC, interns contribute to meaningful work while learning how the financial markets operate behind the scenes. You will be part of a structured summer experience that combines team-based project work, training, feedback, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with leaders and peers. About the Summer Internship Program The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week experience designed to build a strong foundation for early-career talent. The program includes orientation, training, manager engagement, feedback milestones, networking, and development experiences that help students explore potential full-time career paths, including EDGE where applicable. What you will gain Hands-on work connected to real business priorities, not only observation or administrative tasks. Structured orientation and training to help you understand DTCC, the industry, and your business area. Manager support, mentorship, peer connection, and opportunities to build your network. Development experiences focused on communication, feedback, professional skills, and career readiness. Mid-point and final feedback to help you understand your strengths, development areas, and potential next steps. Exposure to DTCC culture, values, and community engagement. What you will do Monitor and flag relevant news, legislation, hearings, regulatory developments, and industry events affecting the financial services industry. Watch and summarize congressional and state legislative hearings and industry events on topics such as financial regulation, financial technology, market structure, data privacy, cybersecurity, and market resiliency. Support DTCC PAC activities by preparing written political updates, assisting with PAC Board presentations, and helping prepare for meetings with Members of Congress. Research and analyze proposed legislation for its potential impact on DTCC, and help prepare subject matter experts for congressional meetings through research, briefing memos, and related materials. Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, capture notes and follow-ups, and support internal and external communications. What will help you succeed Required Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, History, Constitutional Law, Economics, Business, English Literature, or a related field. Expected graduation date: Spring 2028 Minimum GPA: 3.2 Authorization to work permanently in the United States without current or future sponsorship. Preferred Coursework, projects, prior work, or internship experience related to politics, public policy, financial markets, financial regulation, or financial services. Strong interest in politics, financial markets, financial regulation, and/or the financial services industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. For law students, interest in legal research, analysis, and writing related to legislative, regulatory, or other policy proposals. Hybrid work model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote, based on team schedule. The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
