About SLR Consulting & the Role

At SLR Consulting, we are problem solvers, innovators, and trusted advisors helping shape sustainable solutions worldwide. SLR comprises over 5,000+ staff across our global regions, with 35+ Practices covering Engineering & Design, Planning & Assessment Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences and Advisory Services. In the Asia Pacific region (SLR APAC), SLR has 1,200+ employees located throughout 24 offices.

At the heart of SLR is a collaborative 'One Team' approach, a supportive and accessible workplace culture, and opportunities to work alongside industry leaders while making a real impact.

We're looking for a Graduate Environmental Consultant to join our team in Singapore as we continue to grow following Hydrobiology's integration into SLR. You'll join the same highly regarded local team, now backed by SLR's global network of environmental specialists, multidisciplinary expertise, and expanded technical capability.

The Graduate Environmental Consultant is a graduate-level position reporting directly to the Team Manager. In this role, you will support senior consultants across a variety of activities including field surveys, biological sampling, data analysis, mapping, report writing and technical interpretation. A relevant bachelors degree in environmental science or related field is required.

A significant proportion of our project work is undertaken in remote and challenging environments throughout Singapore and overseas. As such, this role will involve regular fieldwork, including travel and extended periods working in remote locations, typically for durations of less than one month. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable and keen to develop their technical skills within a collaborative team environment.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation for fieldwork, including equipment packing/freighting and arranging travel and accommodation.
  • Support the demobilisation of field trips, such as cleaning and storing equipment, and maintaining laboratory and equipment storage areas.
  • Conduct data collection, collation, and perform basic statistical analyses.
  • Provide field-based support to other SLR service lines and disciplines as required.
  • Assist senior staff in preparing proposals, reports, and other documentation, including the preparation of data summaries, graphs, and tables that are quality-checked and suitable for inclusion in reports subject to higher-level professional review.
  • Prepare basic written materials, including technical memoranda and summaries of field activities and results.
  • Perform routine administrative duties such as timesheet entry, logging of project-related expenses, attending weekly office meetings, and supporting the Team Manager with other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to SLR’s HSEQ Integrated Management System, including compliance with company policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Be available to travel for fieldwork and to work on weekends, public holidays, or outside standard office hours when required.

Performance criteria

  • Demonstrates overall cost-effectiveness, including management of salary package and business-related expenses.
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and on time, adhering to agreed deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Shows strong organisational skills, especially in planning and executing fieldwork activities.
  • Delivers high-quality outputs in fieldwork, data collation, analysis, and reporting, with work recognised and valued by senior colleagues.
  • Displays flexibility, initiative, and a positive attitude while contributing to a small and growing business.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with both internal team members and external clients.
  • Understands and consistently adheres to SLR’s HSEQ policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
